Your correct. Im not saying its bad, it just slipped my mind on where to get a good one.
I went with that one because of the in depth discussion that took place in late 2011. I think Ken (woodnthings) did a take apart study of a few of the various cps.
The international version was one of the good ones. IIRC.
This forum can be so much fun sometimes, and frustrating. I jumped on this earlier without paying attention to when it started. Geez.
Maybe Trey will chime in, he started with the BW deal, curious if his has held up. I never did replace my Intl one, too much of an if after everybody else chimed in. My known good grey one still lives in the glove box, with a 10mm socket and 1/4 dr ratchet, just in case.
so I just went and got grey with purple ring (F7TZ-12K073-B) from ford for $22.62 and a dark blue (1876736C91) from international for $32.81. I do believe I may have an original black one in one of my trucks, so now ill experiment with the three and decide which one performs the best and then get that one for the other trucks
When I got my truck 5 years ago the dealer had put in the grey CPS, I changed to the International dark blue about 2 years ago. No noticeable difference, still running good though.
I need to buy a spare, should I get Ford ( F7TZ-12K073B ) or international ( 1876736C91 )?
I still have the one that came with the truck when it was new.
After 15 years I should change it just to be safe.
Get a spare. Either Ford or International. Don't waste your time changing the factory one if it still works. My wife is still running her OEM CPS, she just carries a spare in the glove box.
Not all of them failed, just some of them. If they made it this long, you're likely in good shape, but carry a spare to be on the safe side.
