I just had a BW CPS in my rig for 2.9 hrs of running time. During that period I had 4 "hiccups" and noticed that turning on the wipers would kill motor when parked.
I've just pulled this unit and put back the F7TZ-12K073-B that I had installed 4 months after getting the truck in October 2008.

How is it that so much time as passed and they can't make a simple electronic pickup last, this tech has been around since points were phased out. Well probable even before that.you would think that acell, edelbrock, holly or Mallory could whip up a quality part.

Hmm. I bought one at International, Dec 19, 2011.
# 1876736C91, dark blue. Running fine, no real obvious difference from the gray one it replaced. I wasn't having any problems but needed a spare so I swapped out my gray one.

Just a follow up, it has been 3 months with no signs of failure. Several storms have come through and none of the ill effects yet. As always I keep my spare just in case.

The one you posted from O'reilly's shows it as being gray? Amazon doesn't show a pic. Maybe back when you got yours they were black? Just looked at them today. Hmmm

The pic is a stock pic. If you go to the store and ask to see one it's black.

I'll give it a shot! At least i'll have a spare! Had mine replaced in Jan 2012 by the dealer as part of the recall. I've only had this truck for a little over a year now.

I got my truck in June of '98,it is an early '99 model. Not sure what cps came with it, but I have that one still in it. Not sure if it's time or miles that make them go bad. I only use this truck in the summer to pull my 5th wheel rv and only have 35,000 miles on it.

CPS

The store in Fairbanks lists them for $30.99

I guess that is what we get for living in the colonies.

You should have the black one everybody wants. They do go out so get a spare. And if you take it to the dealer don't let them change it cause they will on recall. It happen to me. I wanted the old part and they wouldn't give it back.
