I would like to hear more. Timeline, what happened?
Thanks.
I bought the truck from a dealer in Wisconsin in the spring of 2009. Before delivery I had them do any open recalls.
Later on, I read threads about problems with the grey sensor, so I put it in the glovebox as a spare and started running a black Borg Warner.
My failure window was 2-3 months. It would be fine until it rained. I'm still not sure if it was interference from the wipers or the moisture actually killing the sensors. But when I got to my third BW I put it in the glove box and run the grey one now. Thankfully my truck doesn't seem to act any different with it; been on the grey one for over 2 years now.
Get real load like 2K pound of stuff in bed or tow.
Then see if it still idle normal or it act like strong at idle?
Just wait couple thousands miles before CPS start crap on you when turn on wiper. I replaced mine once it run perfect but once it rain it cut off.
My boss use those on his fleet. I must say 60% it hit/miss They just stop work on very hot day.
What do you consider a very hot day? Pretty sure it's not the same as I would consider very hot. I've heard about the wet, but not as much about the heat.
That is the pn for the dark blue one I installed. I didn't notice any difference, not really having any issues with the gray one (except usual noise). I thought maybe it would change a lot but not really. I also don't have a lot of perspective on this, being my first diesel and haven't listened to many others.
I think springerpop or woodenthings8 did an in depth study on these.
But what the heck, for 25 bucks I'll try the BW this weekend.

My friend had 95 F350 dump. It eat BW CPS everytime outside was 100oF and it was work hard. It would cut off when pull load. New CPS last like 1 month then died. Another one last 5 months in cool weather. Scanner say Camshaft sensor code.
OT but in the new (April 2012) diesel world there is an article about 7.3s and it says that every die hard 7.3 owner has a spare cps in their truck. I live on the edge haha no extra cps for me.
i replaced my cps with a kragen unit last year. it lasted bout 3 days. replaced my replacement with a dealer item. idles slightly higher since then, but no hiccups.
