Why do we like GPA’s them so much?
  1. its a cheap hobby compared to others
  2. it appeals to our ‘fix-it’ philosophy.
  3. we appreciate working on a machine that has no ‘built-in’ obsolescence
  4. they are plentiful and can be found at garage sales or on CL
  5. we fool ourselves into thinking they’re an investment.
  6. ....others,?

7. simple, easy to use and keep repaired.
8. cool looking, can tell what it is a mile away
9. soothing hiss in the night, calming
10. instant bug zapper. bugs automatically leave you alone to go check out the lantern, then commit suicide

well, since the Petromax and Hipolito styles aren't Coleman, I just couldn't justify putting a number to it ...../.
https://terry-marsh.com/internationa...facturers-h-p/

the petromax are harder to find... and lot of clones so one must be careful, the hipolito is newer from the 70'-80's so not as collectable

BUT I love my Old Coleman products too

Didn't realize there was such interest in these things. I have a mint coleman lantern and two burner stove from when I used to go camping, coincidentally not too far from where my camp is today. Wonder if there are authorized coleman service centers still around to refurbish this stuff?

Probably should bring all my camping paraphernalia to camp to free up space for other crap I'll never use again.
