I heard this loud and clear. I'm doing this next filter change. Thanks for the PRO tip, Epic

Just my HO but,

I am not 100% sure about this one.....
The seal is above the threads and therefore the threads are inside the bowl and exposed to the fuel. Not sure if grease in the fuel is good, bad or irrelevant. It will be inside the system though.

Also, not sure how much grease will be left after 20,000 miles in diesel fuel.

Thanks

Good point. I haven't done it either but I'm not having trouble getting the bowl off. Being that diesel is an oil and not a solvent, maybe the grease will stay there? Any that comes loose has two filters to deal with.

Yes sir, I don't know either. I will give it a try next time but we will not get any results for 40,000 kM (about a year and a half LOL).

Have a good weekend!

Should you be able to hear the fuel pump running/buzzing from under the truck? Had my filters changed and did not notice it before. They said filters were clean. If you turn the key but don't start the truck you can hear it singing away. Can eve hear it from outside the truck with it running a little bit.

I can hear mine when the truck is off from outside the truck only (not if I am sitting in the truck). I can't hear it with the truck running but I have straight pipe exhaust so I can't hear much

Thanks

I guess if you lubed the threads with diesel fuel it would be better than nothing. It likely is "self lubricating" anyway due to the nature of the beast, but I didn't think of the location of the seal in relation to the threads. I'll let you know in 6000 miles because I did lube my threads with fresh fuel before I put it on when I changed mine. I just thought grease would hold up better...but after reading darren's point, I'll stick with fuel.

I wish I had the money to do all you have done to your truck and not have to worry about warranty. I can't eat a big repair.

Diesel fuel is a lube, that being said the threads are constantly being lubed. And if u wanna add another lube, and not worrt about mixing unwanted stuff into your system, use some pm22a

I saw somewhere else........ Ensure the filter housing is on tight and the drain valve is fully shut.

I broke the Filter Cap at the Nut head. The Nut Head came out completly. Just the way it was cast. So I use a strap wrench now. It does a nice job. And was the only way the broken cap would come off.
For anyone reading this the new cap doesn't come with the drain valve or sensor so save the old cap's parts.
