RI 2012 BS thread - lets get some chatter
The way the Toyota E-Brake system works, is that there is a large lever (called a bell-crank) that sticks out of the backing plate on each drum, and a short cable hooks onto the lever and pulls it. The E-Brake cables do not go into the backing plate like typical American stuff.
The bracket that holds the bell-crank is made out of aluminum. Unfortunately the bell crank bracket on the drivers side disintegrated from corrosion, so It needs to be replaced.

At least you got me to the right place!
I had no idea Land Cruisers upto '95 had the same bracket though. In 91-92 they switched to rear discs with a drum e-brake, but I guess they retained the same bracket...and there's a '92 at Henry's right now....
However it turns out the tank of gas that I'd had been saving to put in it had turned into mostly water...and I realized that after I dumped it all in. Now I have to deal with that somehow...
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Today was a great day to be outside, I hope everyone had a great day.
I took the 78 out for a spin in the am, then went to work on the 56 for a few hours when my buddie got out of work.
Here is the latest progress if interested.
1956 F100 Crew Cab Project
I hope everyone had a nice weekend, but im sorry to say.... its almost over.
Back to work in T minus...........

I spent the day removing the trim from my 78 F250 and welding a patch/replacement panel that I have been meaning to for some time now.
Three more patches on the truck and it will be rot free.

Then I moved onto the 56 F100 tailgate.
Feel free to check out the build thread.
