We stick close to home for the holidays...Lakewood to Whittier is the extent of our travels. My cousin's house on Christmas Eve and my sister's on Christmas day.
We are having Christmas here this year. Usually go to Sacramento.
I work Christmas Eve and Christmas (Because I'm the new guy). But I somehow got lucky. I work Christmas Eve morning (6-2:30) and Christmas night (2:30-11) so I get to participate in all of the festivities.
I'm looking to plan a 3-4 day camping trip with kid/nephews/bro-in-laws between Christmas and New Years Eve (my wife's bday). Thinking about the Calico area from Ft Irwin Rd down to Doran Loop (just north of Calico) across to Hidden valley, Odessa Canyon, Mule Canyon Rd. I need to scope it out one of these weekends before Christmas to see where would be a good staging /camping area for some day trips on the trails and hikes. Open to others joining who would want to spend a day or more - mini offroad/camping event?
I'm slowly working my way through Charles A. Wells book 'SoCal Backroads and 4-WD trails'.

That sounds fun.
I'm planning on going to the ranch and working on my '74 for 3 days then driving it back down to SoCal on the 30th.
The thought of driving a truck for 8 hrs that I haven't driven 30 miles yet is scaring the crap out of me. I'm putting together a big emergency kit. I could do it simple and trailer it back down but the drive thing is more appealing if scary. Besides there is no better way to get to know your vehicle than drive it for a long trip eh?

2027 Ford Super Duty Buyer's Guide (Every Model, Engine, & Package)
My F150 overhead display. It flashes ICE at 37° and below. I didn't know if the Superduty overhead did, but from Pop's comment I guess it does.
I don't know if my 2000 does, but Ozbow's 2004 F250 does. It's HIGHLY that your newer ones do, too.
Last saw it displayed out on the Oklahoma panhandle a few years ago.
Edit: From my Owner's Manual, Page 22: "If the outside temperature falls below 3°C (38°F), the display will alternate from “ICE” to the outside temperature at a two second rate for one minute."
Spending Christmas in Pismo this year, usually stay here in Fresno. That calico, off road trial trip sounds like fun, and if I had the 4x4 already I would definitely be joining you.
