I'd rather be in the dentists chair for a deep cleaning......
Steve, Bill had mentioned that you and he did a power steering flush a while back. I have no experience with this (although Bill did provide me with a write up). Can it be done with out turning the steering wheel and just applying the brakes? I dont have a jack here to lift the front end with. Also, I'm gonna have to do it by myself, but it needs to get done. The pump is hissing loudly. Got me some Mercon V ATF today. I didnt get Mobile 1 Synthetic because it was twice the price. Do you think its worth taking back to get the synthetic?
As for the steak dinner... That sounds pretty good. Time to light the BBQ.
My short term memory is going to hell...I don't remember for sure if we got more fluid flow from turning the wheels or pumping the brakes, but I know one yielded much greater flow than the other. I think it was pumping the brakes...
I'd prefer the synthetic, but clean Mercon V is better than dirty fluid.
If your pump is hissing that loudly it may be more than a fluid change is necessary.

Correct. Pumping the brakes resulted in most of the fluid discharge. I've studied that diagram after we did ours, and I don't think the way we did it gets fluid directly out of the steering head. It still gets changed, but it recirculates through the resevoir. All that means is you don't get as much of the old stuff out as you would like. Getting to the discharge from the steering head is difficult, while getting to the discharge from the brake booster is easy peasy.
