One never knows when a skill will come useful. I was but a wee lad when an elderly gentleman gave me a bit of advice. Says he, "Gene, never turn down an opportunity to learn something new".

Thats why I stuck around. I had time to kill and wanted to learn something new. Unfortunately they didnt figure out what the problem was.
Not a total loss. If nothing else, you learned that a wrecker can pull a truck & trailer to the side of the road despite the trailer's brakes being locked

The trailers brakes were free, the tractor's brakes were locked. That was the problem. I talked to the driver and we both agreed that if the trailer brakes locked up he could have just drug the trailer to the side like the wrecker did.
When he tried to go the drive axles wouldnt budge and the torque of the motor looked like it was gonna rip the cab off
Those brodies will be there for a while. You'll always know the story behind 'em.

Reason: Who the heck uses the word Brodie anymore? Well, I do, yeah, but no one else does. Maybe some old guy here knows about 'em.
Honestly the reason I went over there was to pull the guy out of the street, because CHP was angry and its a busy street. He had the hood rolled forward and looked like he was struggling to turn over the motor. (Turns out the clutch fan just kept engaging and disengaging because of the heat). I was going to offer to pull him back into the parking lot. I was fairly sure I could have done it. His trailer was empty too. But when I heard the brakes were locked I threw that idea out the window
The state's "professional" drivers are too stupid to drain their air tanks?
Apparently, many, many of them didn't drain this one!
Pop
Agreed Pop. But it happens a lot more than you'd thing . It wasnt this guys truck, and he'd only been working there for 2 weeks. But regardless, checking the tanks is part of the pre-trip check list.
