There are a few people on here who knew Mike McSpadden aka Muley. There is a cool little blurb on page 44 of Diesel Power this month about him and his truck.
Today I decided to man up to my mistake and take responsibility for my speeding ticket. I hope the state will enjoy my $513. I didnt really need it anyway.
I took traffic school online too. Its basically a drivers training refresher course. It took about 2 hours because it had minimum time timers, that decided I needed to read pages longer. Apparently the average Californian reads very slowly. I watched Ice Road Truckers after reading pages and waiting for the timer to expire.
West Covina I-10.
Clocked at 82mph
Posted was 65mph
Traffic was flowing much higher that the posted limit. I was in a vehicle that was unfamiliar to me and I was aware that I kept unintentionally speeding because I wasnt used to the vehicle and was using traffic to gauge my speed (not a legal argument I know, just an explanation). Traffic was doing at least 75. Probably 80. I saw the officer with his radar gun pointed at me and I saw him put it away and he locked eyes on us as we drove by. I knew he was after me.
I told everyone in the car "I just got a speeding ticket" it was funny at first because everyone said "Really? Why? You wernt speeding faster than anyone else."
I pulled over in a safe manner, was polite, honest, and straight forward. Even shook the officers hand afterwords, he is after all just doing his job, and I knew I was going faster than the posted limit.
Also, I didnt have my license on me at the time
I was wearing special Paintball jersey pants and when I had changed into them from my jeans I forgot to get my wallet.
Criminally high, isn't it? Total costs tend to be about 3 times the actual fine for the infraction. They just keep adding more fees and court costs. People are getting very pissed off.
