Yeah, finally. Ceramic stuff is done tomorow, and then I can start getting this thing assembled.

Nearly all of those issues are attributed to poor maintenance.

Fact of the matter is, a ZF5 is a superior towing transmission due to the gear ratios, and dwarfs the T18/T19/NP435 in size contest. The main killers of the ZF5 are as follows:

Overheating or synchro failure due to low or burnt oil. People don't change their fluids. ZF put coolers on the ZF6's, I intend to put a cooler on my ZF5 using a transfer pump and bar/plate style cooler with fan.

Secondly, the DMF very often wastes the ZF trans. It needs a nice SMF mated to it. As for the aluminum case being a weak point, that is laughable. Nearly all modern medium/heavy duty trans are alum case.
Hey, good to know, thanks! Any driveshaft modifications necessary for the ZF5 swap? I'd love to have that OD in my truck. Is 1st gear a granny?

Justin mind if I ask if you post pics of how you have the turbo connected to the intake manifold?

Ya you need that extra power from a bigger turbo to turn those big tires. Nice looking truck btw.

A cam is a great upgrade on these for more torque, hence the cam that I have been able to supply.

Justins grind likely will not work in an engine that doesnrt have cut pistons.
There isnt much room for extra lift .
I will have to mock up my spare engine and clay one sometime.

RacinNdrummin's engine has the same cam in it, with stock turbo pistons. He converted two lifters to solids and has rotated his engine over, has no valve clash so far... so fingers crossed.

Ken @ Delta said this cam will clear a stock CR engine, but it is the biggest possible cam that will.

my engine stand is becoming more disgruntled... wondering when the parts will stop pouring on.
