If I'm confusing, or off base just tell me to shut up lol
What they are getting into is the stoichiometric mixture. This is perfect fuel to air mixture. These creates a 100% effective burn. There are 2 problems with this. One being it just can't be done 100% and two being it causes the engine to run hotter.
A richer fuel mixture will go above the stoichiometric mixture. This means there will be unburnt fuel (as I'm sure you know) which will not create the perfect burn so the flame never gets as hot, and the extra fuel should cool the combustion chamber as well.
A side note a 2 stroke is a whole nother animal in itself which is why the lubricant (also cools the combustion chamber) is added in smaller 2 strokes. They use a process called scavaging (I think thats how you spell it) which is a completly different ball game from a 4 stroke like a normal ICE (internal combustion Engine) But this a subject for another time.
Does this help you understand what they are trying to get at?

It does. My motorcycle is not a 2 stroke. It's a 600 thumper.
Well I have some badish news. I sold the truck. The story is I had a trailer for sale and I didn't need a big dually anymore because I sold my jeep. So I had decided I'd consider selling the truck. I had a high number in my head as I'm sure we all do. The "If I get offered 'X' I'll sell it" number. So I was meeting a guy who was going to buy my trailer. He said he liked the truck and wanted to buy it as well. I gave him "that" number and we dickered a little but all told I got more than I had in it. Had the cash in his pocket. He even gave me a ride home.
He took the truck and trailer.
Which is OK. My wife hated it and wouldn't ride in it and as one of the quads is hers that kinda put a damper on things. So it's for the best. This all happened yesterday.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to you guys. You really helped me on this project and got me and the truck to where it is.
