IMO a NP205 is the toughest t-case there is, and they have a huge aftermarket, not sure if they were used behind the IDI, maybe on the 4-spds. I have one in my pickup, had to grind part of the tailshaft housing to clear the shift rails, but works great.

If I could find a zf5 with 2wd set up that would be a perfect setup to put the 205 on

This much i know, my 79 had a 400/4spd/np205, the 89 i swapped in had a 7.3,zf5,1356, i unbolted the 1356, laid the np205 gasket on the tailshaft housing, marked where to grind out for the shift rail, ground it, bolted on the np205.

IIRC, pre 77 205s are divorced, post 77 are married. Except for up to 77.5 hi-boys, theyre still divorced.

As far as far as putting one in a slant, birck, or OBS, there may be some shifter bending, or enlargening of the hole in the floor for full shifter movement, but i do not know, it there is its bound to be minimal.

Also remember they will most likely have different yokes, and i have no idea it they interchange. My 205 came with a 1310 yoke front and 1330 back, now sporting 1330 / 1350 front / back. Also, the brick F-250 front driveshaft will work with a u-joint change and possible shortening. My 79 front DS walked away, so i had the 89 shaft cut down.

i have tossed that around along with silver solder and threading them in.

o and i am upgrading to a v12 lol

Nice! I thought about a press fit and then opted for the TIG and eventually solder...

My aluminum attempt:

Followed by brass design:

Silver solder works great:

At least 2 years, no leaks:

Best mod I've done thus far. No more cranking or diesel smell under the hood.

Those are pretty neat. I have never thought about doing that before. Did you guys have to have those machined or were you able to buy the pieces somewhere? I would be interested in doing that some day...

machined, i think mechelement was selling them, no?

yea, it is hard to get a good weld on something like that takes a lot of power and a tiny electrode.

i might go with silver solder, i need to heat one of these up and see what it does as i have been told it's liable to warp into a cube being stainless.

may i ask what you used for the bore sizes?

so, the exhaust ports are actually about 1 5/8 at the flange...
how thick is the exhaust runner right there?
kinda thinking about grinding it out to 1 7/8 like the manifolds
