Anywho, I figured I' post a pic so people can see what Jon was talking about. This is a console i made for my Mustang:

I told him that FM radio wasn't even in the "scene" yet, let alone anything like a fancy cassette deck or CD player.
That faceplate only cost me about $10 to make too. Its a plain sheet of steel $8 at Lowes that I cut with a jigsaw, bent in a vise, sanded with a plain old orbital sander then taped to paint semi-gloss black (2 coats) and then covered whole piece in a coat of clear to hide any edges from paint, then added a piece of chrome door stripping $2 around the edge to match with the rest of the console. Not bad vs the $200-$300 (used 1967 piece price) that wont hold a CD player or the additional gauges I plan to mount there.
Well there's a bit of sad news. The Zebras been wrecked. Apparently the kid i sold it to smacked into a tree. The entire passenger side is pretty banged up. Not sure what hes going to do with it. Told him i will pay a bit and pay it back if hes going to scrap it. Figure at least i can take the 351 out and drop it in the coupe. Then id have efi and lots of torque.
Looking back I should have never sold it but the old lady said that I had too many toys. If i get it back i may see about fixing it. If not ill prolly part it out. Looks like the pass fender and inner fender, headlight, bumper, and heater box are all toast. From what i could see its mechanically solid still. I believe the pass door may have been dinges up as well. Cant remember for sure. He has it at a shop that said itd be $3500+. So im not sure what hes looking to do with it.
