Lets double check the size of these pistons, bought em at .060 over or 4.110 advertised. That means with a .0015 to .0023 clearance range they better be pretty consistent at 4.108 right ?

" I hear ya Brother "
Well I've seen blocks run fine with 110 walls for 70k miles and still going strong. Some of the guys over on the FE board have even run wall thicknesses as low as 085! All your measurements seem very consistent so it doesn't appear that your block has much core shift, which was something that plagued FE blocks. Although rare, some 360/390 blocks can be taken 080 over. I'd say you have one of these blocks. I didn't catch the casting number on it, reverse 105, D3 or D4TE I'm guessing seeing as it has the extra webbing around the mains. These are the usual 360/390castings that can possibly go 080 over to the 428 bore.
I think when you are looking at a picture in your album there is an option to make it your avatar. That or it's under edit album and then check set as avatar? I think that's how it goes.
Thanks Sleepy, does this pic show the webbing your talking about? I only see them
around the rear main ? I'll post the casting number shortly..............
Well I've been up too late reading threads I guess. Thumbing back through I don't see the pic I thought had the webbing easily visible. I suppose it was in another thread. There are 428 C6ME-A blocks as well. Among the rare 080 over possible 360/390 blocks the C6ME-A is the next most likely to be able to do it. Personally, I don't think I've heard of another casting besides the D3 D4 or C6ME-A going to a 428 bore. I'm sure there out there but these seem to be the most common (among rarities) 3 castings. Those and FT service blocks.
To see the webbing you need a pic looking at the front or back of the main caps. They can't be seen directly from above.
Highboy44, what do you say about approaching the modern era with a dial bore gauge? :P I used the inside mic trick forever, then I got the dial bore gauge and oh lordy was life good.
I respect your accuracy with the inside mic for sure! It just might be a little easier with the inside mic.
