I have to agree with Old Reliable. I was so happy to see more in this thread and then disappointed that it is done. This has been one of my favorites. Thanks for the good times. Glad to see another dent back on the road.
Highboy44.... I too missed this earlier, after reading the last 15 pages...great work and an awesome job!...I too remeber space invaders and the cheap gas prices back in 78..I was more into the hot rod scene(69 GTO) and did not transition to Fords until '83 w/ my 1st one..a 76 f250 highboy, bought it in Mobile, Alabama and towed my 71 K5 blazer all the way back to NJ, got to say that Chevy looks good too!
Awesome write up. Thanks for sharing the info and pics. Congrats on the ride as well.
i picked up a 76 high boy yesterday for the wife to go with her 69 GMC and was looking for more info when I hit this thread. Hell of a read and congrats again on your nice rides and the inspirations.
Beautiful truck and a wonderful thread. Thank you for the enjoyment you provided.
I don't know where you live. From the early thread photos it looks like somewhere south of the rust belt.
I would humbly offer one suggestion....
I think it was in 1977 Ford started installing plastic wheelwell liners on the front, and some extended splash shields on the rear. These kept mud, salt and general road (or trail) cr*p from collecting on the cab, on the inside of the inner fenders, radiator core support, pickup bed sides, etc.
If your truck will only be driven on nice days this probably isn't an issue, but if it may be exposed to road cr*p I would seriously consider adding them.
Hey Hey Hey now hold on, I thought I was reading my Obituary with these last few posts!
I guess It sounded like it was done , but you guys know these are never ending projects.
Still got a lot to do. Windows ( anti rattle) , drivers door(regulator and weather strip) Shocks , pull the bed , frame from cab rearward(cleanup and coat) Springs(bushings) Rear Brakes , aux tank, spare tire ......on....and on.....and on........................
I've been on my Ford owner challenger for weeks to post up some stuff, but he says he's not a computer guy and hasn't found a project yet, so oh well! I think it would have made a pretty cool thread and still could I guess but you would have to do em simultaneously and on the same thread to make it fun !!!!!! I'll stay on him !!!!!
