Ok, so, I am not saying this doubting you guys, but icant help think the sequence of steps is not being done correctly to get the necessary results. My remote start has several sequences for temp sensitive start, extending run time, things like that and it's really tricky to do the correct sequences. granted it's aftermarket, but, it's likely similar programming. so, things like foot off brake, two pushes of start button? How far apart each of the two pushes are, do they make the same tone, beep? Mine has two types.... Short poke single beep, versus double short with a longer beep. Which are you doing with key on, foot off brake. This seems to be a simple programming type issue where the steps are not eas to follow reliably.

Maybe it is configurable with a tool that plugs into the connector under the dash. I tried it on my truck and it did not work either. Built 4/30/11.

BTW, back on topic, I tried the after RS and my Job 1 does not work either. I have the current TSB.

I figured all seats were the same...

Heck seats are different, RS programming is different..... what else is "special" about this truck.

Gotta be more than two of us out there that can get the RS thing to work.

I'm thinking if, you have the IDLE mod from the factory ,CA. then it will work...otherwise,nope.

I'm guessing

not sure I am following you...
the only idle mod I have is the SEIC that I did myself based on the info in the Tech Folder.

Wow. I just read all the way through this thread start to finish. I could have been more efficient if I passed up all the limited edition seat talk Although, I did ride along in Rickatic's truck back in January and those are pretty nice seats!

As to the thread topic - remote start:
1. My remote start only works about half of the time. I think it is just a range issue, but I don't know. What is this "range booster" you guys are speaking of? Is it a Ford addition or is this third-party? I had an after-market remote start installed in my 2010 F-250 with the 6.4 and it worked a LOT better than my factory one does in my '11.

2. The feature allowing the engine to run when you remove the key is a pretty slick idea. I can't run out right now and try this. I have a King Ranch with nav and MyKey, the only functional option I don't have is a moon roof. It is also a Job 2. When I get out tomorrow I will check this feature out and see if I can get the original button sequence to work after the gear shifting.

3. Has anyone tried leaving out the lock button in the sequence? IE - just skipping right to the two hits of the circle button? I agree with the one guy that posted about there being different button sequences for programming whatever feature you want to get to run. My dad's Lexus will drop all the windows even with a button sequence.

4. High-Idle - I meant to do this on my 6.4 too. I will have to hook this up. There was talk about the high idle shutting off when the truck goes back in to remote start mode with all the screens blank. If the upfitter switches are run through the accessory on somehow, activated with a relay or run directly off the accessory power, then it WILL shut off with the accessory power off. That having been said, if the power is separate from the accessory on (IE - you can turn your accessories on and off with no key in the truck) then the circuitry for the high idle must have something to do with having the key in the ON position and theres no way around it.

I pulled out my upfitters and installed my own switch panel with some jacks on it for my ham radio installation. The power for everything is straight off the secondary battery. Depending on how the wire is hooked up for the high idle (+12v or switching to ground) I may be able to use one of the switches on my panel. They have constant power from the battery, no disconnect with the key out.

On your item 1 question: you can buy an accessory kit from Ford that extends the range of the remote start. I installed series 100 of this kit and I understand a series 200 kit is available that gives you some additional features. You can find details on it if you search "extended remote start" (I will see if I can find it). I routinely get 800 feet or more range using it. It is bidirectional.
