Ok. The suspense was killing me. I went out and tried the updated experiment. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Must be something unique to the Job 1 trucks...

For reference my truck is 2011 F250 FX4 SRW CC Lariat build date 4/9/10 with a purchase date of 6/5/10 and the only update/flash is the 400/800. I do my own service so it couldn't have any other tune/update by the dealer.
The one software glitch from Ford that I do want... Thanks again for the video, my testing efforts will continue after work.

Just an update from me....I went to lunch today with another Ford truck owner (V10). I was planning to show him the cool down when we got to the restaurant. I forgot and just shut off the engine. So, I just started it back up, didn't move, didn't put it in D then back to P. I did the remote start process on the key fob, took the key out and it still worked.

So, question is...it seems to work under almost any scenario for me. I'll have to try the others listed by my996duc1 to see if those that didn't work for him, work for me.

Well that video example is neat.
For the most part driving unloaded, even 5 minutes of idle is unnecessary.
However, the biggest advantage for this feature is walking into a convenience store for a water and keeping the engine running without a key in the truck.
I carry my second key for this purpose but someone could bust the window and leave with my truck fairly quickly.

went out and tried the truck again...
- inside truck with door shut, truck had been sitting for 4 hours - - started the truck let it run for 5 seconds and put it into RS mode = it worked : put the key back in and turned back to on position : put back in RS mode = it worked : put key back in and turned back to on postion : put back in RS mode for a third time in a row = it worked and the radio stayed ON..... I thought WOW, now that is cool. I opend the door to see if I could get out and it gave me a warning about the alarm getting ready to go off.... this was with the truck running in RS mode and the radio ON, and key out of ignition. I just put the key in and turned it back to on and it killed the alarm warning.
It was tried from a stand still (no driving/no shifting) and it WORKED this time....
I also tried foot on the brake again and it WORKED this time....

I am not sure what is going on here or what variables are really effecting how this works.
My tried and true way was how I originally posted back in the begining, and it works every time this way.
Not sure what is changing or what I am doing different in the other scenarios... maybe the door open had something to do with it.... not sure.
Maybe some others can reproduce these results and we can narrow down what factors/variables really matter for this too work.

I have not prefected it OR figured out why and when I can do it yet. I have always moved the truck when trying to do it (either driving it or turning it around in the driveway), so not sure if moving it has any effect but maybe try that.
The only flash I have is the 400/800.
***EDIT*** - just found my build date = 4/9/10
Tried it again before I went for a drive: got in started truck put it in RS mode turned the key off, truck shut off. Went for a drive (10miles) came back put it in park put it in RS mode turned off the key, truck gave me a flash of the lights and 1 beep of the horn and shut off. Just doesn't work at all on my Job 1 truck.

I have tried it a few more times this evening and it just doesn't work. Since it appears to only work on some Job 1 trucks, it is confusing at best. I don't know how Ford updates through their flashes but it could be that one of his control modules has a flash that is different and hasn't been updated.

My996duc1 do you have the Ford MyKey function in your LCD menu?

OK, I have a Job 1 truck (built in May 2010) and it doesn't work. I tried numerous times. I did install the extended range remote start system and the truck did have factory remote start. I tried the sequence with both the factory 2X button on the key AND the new Extended Remote Start key Fob button and just doesn't work....
Damn, I was hoping this would work because I tow a fifth wheel quite often and letting the turbo "cool down" before shutting down motor would be a great feature.

How about your values in the Settings menu? Maybe there's a combination of what you have selected in the various functions that's holding the key to this mystery....

I just went through all of the settings and the only thing I can think of is MyKey. I do not have a MyKey set up. PowerstrokeHD said the MyKey had something to do with it. Do you guys have MyKey set up and
that could somehow be causing it to not work?

I just went out and set up "My Key" and still no change. It just doesn't work on mine.
