My bother and I were towing his Comet back from Denver years ago (24 ft. enclosed) and snapped the little ball for the friction sway control about an hour into the trip. Nothing to do but take it off. Seemed to tow better without it. Havent use a sway control device since. I have a LL hitch and adjust the load properly as well as level the whole rig with the air bags. Seems to work just fine.
Well, the Spring camping season is a Corona bust. Basically rewinterized the camper again without flushing the lines. Maybe in May we can take her out.
Our local lake is still open, it is in a State Park but the boat ramps are open. I may dewinterize the boat tomorrow evening and take her out for a self isolation cruise Saturday. The family is all for it, got to find a way to pass time and enjoy an 85 degree day. The lake is almost 20 miles long and at its widest more than a mile, plenty of room to be alone.
I'm really hoping we can hit the campground at some point this year and do some boating. Last year I was working on the X every weekend, so I didn't get to do either. The camper needs a fair amount of work as the floor linoleum split and I need a new egress window and new ceiling vents installed. The boat will also take a bit of work as I'm sure the fuel pump is plugged and the canvas seems to have finally spit the bit over winter.
Was supposed to be out camping, but due to the shutdown of most parks... I decided to pull the beast out of storage and camp in front of the house for a few days
My poor camper wants to go somewhere. The Ex is filled up, was ready to go on Wed and then, no go. I put the slides back in, covered the tires and turned the fridge off. So sad to do that in the spring.
Ha HA, right. Would super funny to get that knock on the door at time like this. What if I was using it for "quarantine" reasons officer?? Truth be told, there was that thought on my mind along with the itching to try out my new FICM and blue spring mod to see how Bertha towed the short distance.
Diesel price here has barely moved, still $2.79 in my local small town and $2.60 ish in the Cleveland area. Your $1.99 is among the cheapest in the country right now. Gas is as low as $1.06 at the shady el cheapo stations, about $1.50 at most of the stations around the city.
I HAD reservations for a week around the corner from Excurvelle in NC the first week of May. Not feeling too confident about that, but hopefully something will be open by then.
For all those fine folks complaining of closed down State Parks and CGs, I highly recommend boondocking. Find a nice stretch of BLM to call your own and see what your rig is capable of WITHOUT plugging in. It's my preferred choice, but then, my trailer is smidge smaller and more off-road capable than some of y'all that post on here......

The next station down the road a couple miles was a Mobil. Their diesel was still $2.89.9. It pays to shop around I guess.

Unfortunately no BLM land in the Easy and the National forests have shut down sites, even boondocking ones. Best bet is pasture camping.
