Also installed a new 200w BT radio, outside speakers, and 10in 500w subwoofer for my outdoor movie projector. Its a simple HD projector that snaps onto the back of my phone (Moto Z) and can shoot up to a 13ft image. I needed to order a new pop-up canopy, so I made sure to order a 10x15ft model with a single sidewall that will act as our projector screen. Should be a blast!
Lastly, I wanted to bring along our new-to-us ski boat. It's nothing fancy, but should get the job done. Its a 1981 Sun Ray, 19ft open-bow with a 170hp GM 3.8L and a wake tower. Been working on it for the last 2mos. I've installed a stereo, replaced the 50a glass fuses with circuit breakers, rebuilt the seats, and rewired the tilt/trim switches. I still gotta do a tune up (points, timing, etc), but in order for us to take it, I had to do a major overhaul to the rear bumper of my Jayco. First, I relocated the spare from the bumper to the tongue. Then, I cut off the bumper and welded up a section of 4x4 sq tubing that was twice as thick. Cross braces were installed to tie the bumper to the 2x4 boxed steel frame. Also installed a wiring harness off the main pigtail so that whatever is being pulled behind the Jayco (boats, utility trailer) would have functioning lights. This will be my first venture double-towing, so I'm gonna take it slow and steady. I've already up'd the insurances on everything just in case.....

Towing 2 trailers is actually double towing, triple towing would be with 3 trailers.
Yes, most states where it is leagal (double towing) require the first trailer to be a fifthwheel/gooseneck and some require that all axles have brakes. There are a few of the Upper Mid-West states that allow towing double with a bumper pull as the first trailer though. Total combined lengths vary widely throughout the states, at 61' my EX and TT are over in a few of the Eastern states.
That being said, it isn't likely going to happen. My wife royally pissed me off last night and said the boat is too "ugly" for her to enjoy and won't go out in it until it has a full makeover, to include all new interior, paint, and the tower to be chromed. Hell, I might as well sell it and get something else. On top of that, she's too afraid to double tow, yet she's not the one driving! Caused a huge fight between us, so I guess it's just gonna sit in my shop unused until I sell it.
phone long enough to go through this entire thread....we currently have a 32’ TT that weighs in around 8200lbs. We have the Ex because we have 6 kids....our TT is just not quite roomy enough for us anymore.
We’ve been looking HARD at a new one that is 37’ and about 10k GVWR.
I’ve done a V/C code swap, and not really concerned about the 6.0 and it’s capabilities, the Ex is really solid and a joy to drive with my upgrades.
I use a Reese Dual Cam on ALL my trailers and really don’t doubt the capability of the truck with the right trailer. I’m just wondering if this might be biting off more than I can chew......any thoughts?
