A woman awakes during the night to find that her husband was not in their bed. She puts on her robe, goes downstairs to look for him, and finds him sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee in front him. He appears lost in his thoughts, just staring at the wall. She watches as he wipes a tear from his eye and takes a sip of coffee.
"What's the matter, dear?" she whispers as she steps into the room. "Why are you down here at this time of night?"
The husband looks up, "Do you remember 20 years ago when we were dating, and you were only 17?" he asks solemnly.
The wife is touched thinking her husband is so caring and sensitive. "Yes, I do" she replies.
The husband pauses. The words are not coming easily. "Do you remember when your father caught us in the back seat of my car?"
"Yes, I remember," says the wife, lowering herself into a chair beside him.
The husband continues..."Do you remember when he shoved a shotgun in my face and said, "Either you marry my daughter, or I will send you to jail for 20 years".
"I remember that too", she replies softly.
He wipes another tear from his cheek and says... "I would have gotten out
today!"
Good afternoon Donna, here's wishing you a Happy Mother's Day! Hope the kids and Dad made it special for you!
Thank you! Yes, I'm enjoying my mother's day so far. I think we're going out to dinner tonight...maybe?? We just got back from making a run to Markleeville, CA. for lottery tickets.
Do you or anyone you know possibly have a 67/68 GMC Suburban for sale or are parting out? I know alot of us FTE'ers have other vehicles, so I thought I'd ask. My friend needs parts for his Suburban & I told him I'd put the word out. If so, please PM me. Thanks!
Those are probably tough to find. I think there is one a guy has here, that he is restoring. Not sure of the year, though.
My friend is having a tough time finding parts too. He managed to salvage what was left of a emblem after the vehicle had been crushed at the junk yard.
Marge and I are about to leave to go see my mom this afternoon.
She'll be 96 years old on June 2nd, and still mentally sharp-as-a-tack, and in quite-good over-all health.
We're taking dinner to her place, as she has some trouble getting out and around unassisted.
She still has a car here in CA, but doesn't drive it any more in our traffic. She also has one at her place in Minnesota, and thinks nothing of jumping in it to go see her 92-year-old sister that lives sixty miles away.
She was re-issued her MN driver's license this last year, but it was only good for four years, expiring on her 99th birthday. At the rate she is going, I'd say she'll take another driving and eyesight test, and get it renewed then.
She's quite proud of her age, and doesn't mind anyone knowing it.
