Well...that sucks!!! I know of a few classic car owner from NV that would prefer to go to Long Beach for Hot August Nights! Me included (it would be a dream come true to go back to where my heart is...Calif.)- Reno is getting overrun with cars during Hot August Nights & needs a bigger area to expand/host it's event. Even the people that live/work in Reno can't get to where they need to go, because of all the streets (including freeway on/off ramps) get blocked off for the event! What better place than beautiful, sunny California on/near the beach anyway!
They're toast. What slim chance they had for a comeback went out the window when Artest committed that stupid, stupid flagrant foul toward the end of game two and got himself suspended for game three.
There's going to be a glut of those little Lakers window flags available on EBay soon. That thumping noise you hear is the sound of people jumping off of the bandwagon

Am I just getting old or is basketball not the game it once was?
I think the game died with Magic and Birds and Michaels retirement.
Can't watch the bunch of thugs that dominate the game today.
Just sayin'

Marc I couldn't agree with you more. I think when the focus of the league started shifting to an individual's talent rather than team concept it made the game less compelling. Guys like Magic and Bird had tremendous individual talent, but what made them true superstars in my book way their ability to bring everyone on the floor into the game and help them realize their full potential.
Now it's all about so and so "and their supporting cast". Sure, they can jump out of the building and dunk the ball, but half of them can't shoot 75% from the free throw line or get into double digits on assists...let alone make a clutch basket during crunch time.
The 80's was the pinnacle of the game. Lot's of great teams. Houston, LA, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Portland...it was a lot of fun to watch back then.
Yep...born in AZ, grew up in CA, then moved to this hell hole when I was 15 - NV! I miss the ocean so much! Cali is Cali, no matter where you're from! I lived in Palo Alto, Mt. View, Cupertino, Milpitas, but most of it was Los Altos! My mom was one of the 1st woman cops for Palo Alto, then after moving to Mt. View, she was the secretary to the Mt. View Chief of Police. We also went to Orange County to visit relatives & go to Disney land a few times. I miss the ocean so bad! I used to cut Milipitas High School & take the county transit to Santa Cruz! (shame on me)
If it weren't for the cost of living, taxes, smog, & earthquakes...i'd be back there in a heartbeat!
