That man, it was a long day yesterday, I just came off a long nightshift, pulled in the driveway and started tearing it apart. We had a pretty good day, had the other one out, swapped all my stuff over, and set the other one in the in about 10 hr work time. I made it until almost midnight last night, 33 hours straight on 5 hrs sleep.
I'll have some results in a few days for ya, as well as some pics as well.
Great going Cory, and happy Birthday. Your young blood can go alot further then mine, 33 hours straight I'd die. good luck, Chet
Thanks Chet, lol that was 33 straight work hours, I was up longer than that. So far my record is 57 hrs straight, I believe when I finally went to bed I was in a coma for a week it felt like.
I just started the motor up a few min ago, everything is peachy so far, and man when this thing fires up it is so crisp.
Glad to here it. I know how good your pictures are, if possible let us that can't go to RRE listen to it. I wish you luck with this new motor. After driving let us know what you think, power wise. God bless, Chet
Will do, chet, I will have to put a few miles on it to get all the air out of the hpop system, then I'll take a video clip of the motor startup for you. I'll put some miles on it before I open it up much. But I'll be sure to get back on how she does. I'll also keep track of the mpg to see if there is much of a difference after i'm sure I get the rings seated good.
No problem man, I had to wait til I got them off the motor that was in my truck to take a pic. The sheetmetal on them is 16ga, the flatbar in the middle is 1 1/2 x 1/4''. I also took a welding rod and knocked all the slag off and tacked it around the 3'' pipe to keep the boot in place.

Chuck norris doesn't use a welding table, I just hold it with my hand while I weld lol.
The old motor was hanging on the forks of the tractor so I just laid the plenum there for the pic. I made these things over a year ago.

Thanks for the additional info. Did you use gaskets and/or sealant when they went on the new engine?
I used the ford RTV that came in my engine rebuild kit. When it was on the orange motor I just used a regular high temp RTV.
I tried 5 or 6 times to get my stock ones to seal, I tried just about everything other than welding them to the dang head. I gave up on them and just made these, I didn't even give the silicon 45 min to setup and tried testing them, and they held. They also make it very easy getting the spider and boots on because you can slide the boot all the way down against the manifold unlike the stock ones. I just made them out of some scrap stuff I had laying around.
If you do make some, use something to either bolt or clamp them to while you weld them until they completely cool so they are completely flat.
I'll have a few things to work out and get some miles on it first before I can get on it real good.
All I'm gonna say right now is that it is a pretty big difference in low end grunt from about 1300-1800 rpm, its alot stronger and peppier, and has one hell of a nice mean throaty sound.
