Chandler do you still need pics of where to mount the ballasts?
How do you all like the HIDs so far? I'm running a 35W 5K kit from Retro-Solutions and they've been awesome. Same cut off as halogen and no worries about blinding people.

Sure why not! I've put off my purchase for a while as I'm trying to buy the wife a new ride and buy another house soon.
I'd love to see what you've got.
Thanks!
my headlights are fine but man let me tell you what....the fogs are bright as hell. i re-aimed the lights so i dotn get flashed as much, but i limit my driving at night until i can get some projectors.
Here is a comparison pic from when I installed them. On the right is the 55/65W Phillips Xtreme Vision 9008 which is supposed to be 80% more light. It has slightly better high beams but no change in the low beams. On the left is the 35W 5K Digital Slim HID bulb. It is a crappy cell phone camera pic which brings out the glare, but in actuality the difference in glare between the two isn't that noticeable. Note too that I have painted the chrome black on the inside of the lens which I think lessens the light refracting to some extent.
These are where I mounted the ballasts. Just in front of the air filter on the drivers side and squeezed in front of the washer fluid container on the passenger side. I ran the wires under the plastic shroud above the radiator.
I wanted to get some chrome or led bulbs for the turn signals but I don't want to sacrifice brightness, so that's probably not gonna happen.
Great pics above! You can even make out the parking lamp on the halogen side, but not on the HID side. I put the Phillips Extremes in also, but I don't think there is much of a difference over stock. Has anyone upgraded the factory headlight wiring yet? I think I'll have to go that route next (along with the Hella HID driving lights and the HID fog light upgrade already done).
Ok guys, I have noticed some rumblings about headlight bulb swaps. I'm interested into upgrading my headlight bulbs and fog light bulbs in the stock housings on my 06 XLT. Recommendations?
I, like others can't stand how short the life is on the Sylvania SilverStar Ultras. I've upgraded to SOLUX technology which lasts as long as standard halogen rather than only around a year like the Ultras. They're not super-white or blue-ish but that has nothing to do with true brightness. That said, they're definitely brighter...they advertise 80% brighter yet street legal, longest beam and best replication of daylight (4600k) of any halogen style bulb. So far, so good - I love them...especially on my high-beams...and I live in the country and use my lights quite a bit.
Hi people - only recently joined this forum - I have a 1966 F-100 and a 2006 F-150 XLT Supercrew. My question is about the F-150, whose headlights I find completely inadequate. I replaced the bulbs about 5 years ago with Sylvania Siverstar Ultras, but from day one, I was disappointed with them. So, having searched around, I came across this thread, which is admittedly rather old.
Anyway, I am just curious what people are fitting these days - I'd like to keep the truck as stock as possible, so don't want to go the projector look or anything, so wondered if LEDs may be an option? Dont want to spend a fortune...
