They're the best upgrade I did on my vehicles. I just put a set of 9005 35w 5K in my fogs and man they not only look great but also put off a nice pure white beam! Love them!
Joe what exact set up did you go with for the headlights? I really dont know what the bulb types and colors mean. And Im guessing I need the harness as well?
Thanks,
Richard
I have a set of Silverstars on my headlights and fogs on my F150. I thought they were whiter and a tad brighter than stock. Not much to really crow about. Unfortunately, the H13's and 9145 (H10) don't come in the Ultras when I looked.
When I got my F350, I quickly swapped out the stock bulbs with Silverstars, but they were not nearly as bright as what I experienced on the F150. I guess because the lights are bigger/wider apart??? I was always complaining how dim they were.
I finally got fed up and got a set of 35W 4500K DDM's for not much more than I paid for the SS's.
WOW, what an improvement. I'm now tempted to replace the SS's in my F150 as well.
No need for any extra harnesses or cabling or error eliminators. It just plugs-in-and-plays. Stock wiring is plenty sufficient.
I don't care for the blue tint at all, so I stuck with a lower 4500K color which is close to my wife's Lexus. I also chose a lower color so I don't catch any unnecessary attention since they're technically illegal around here. But lots of people have them anyways.
is the fog light easy to access and open up? My bulbs are factory and goin on 5yrs old so probably about to blow---thinking of upgrading.
Driving from Canada to Florida shortly so will crawl underneath in the warm weather at my hotel...
Do I need to bring any special tools or lubricant to open them up first time?
Fogs are cake to do. I just installed the 9005 5k 35W on my truck and took about 15 minutes...with tie wrapping the ballasts up near the headlights out of the elements.

I have the 9008/H13 hi/low beam bulbs 6k 55W with a relay kit. I think if you get the 35W (which is plenty) then a relay kits isn't needed. I got the headlight set a long time ago, if I were to do it again or if I ever have to replace the bulbs (lifetime warranty) I'm going to go with 5K to match the fogs.
Here are some pics I took tonight, from my blackberry bc my wifes digital camera made them look too clear.
just fogs
fogs and low beams
Awesome in person but hard to capture on Camera.
