Headlight bulb upgrade?

Ok guys, I have noticed some rumblings about headlight bulb swaps. I'm interested into upgrading my headlight bulbs and fog light bulbs in the stock housings on my 06 XLT. Recommendations?

Do you want to stick with halogen bulbs, or make the full upgrade to HIDs?
For bulbs:
Sylvania SilverStars
Philips ClearVision Ultras
and some from PIAA (I cannot remember the bulb name)

As for HIDs. You're on your own there, but Retro Solutions has a nice kit. I would suggest using the "search" function here if you're interested in the HIDs. Much more info to gather that way.

DDMTUNING kits are 1/3 of the price of the retro ones with a lifetime warranty and are plug and play, no cutting or messing with wires. I've had the dual beam digital 55W in my headlights now for a couple yrs and have been trouble free, I just ordered the fog light single beam 35W set and can't wait to get them. I've had all the others mentioned above in my truck and do yourself a favor DO NOT waste your money. Get HID'S! You'll never go back, I have them in all my vehicles and motorcycles.

What is DDM's HID Harness?

Do I need one for my 08 headlights?

Thanks

yes if you get the hi/low kit I believe it comes with a relay harness. I have the 55w hi/low kit so I def have it and it's cake to install. Just a relay harness so you use the power direct from battery when the lights are turned on.

I ordered a 35w 5000k set.

I'll see how it turns out.
I might consider doing that projecter retrofit thread that was posted recently

You should have oder you some projector headlights first because they might have a different bulb size then what goes in your stock light. With DDM you can get new bulbs for about $20 when you do go to projectors (because you will). Most projectors I have found use H1 bulbs.

I have the 6000k 55w and they look like the 5000k 35w. Just a little blue tint almost pure white.

Here are some nice headlights for your truck.

I think Recon makes both of them.

Personally I like the first ones better.

Those Recon lights are sweet! I know I want a set, but then I would have to do the tails and 3rd brake/cargo lamps too! Can't just do the headlights and forget about the rest...

Great suggestion...if the OP had a SuperDuty.

OP...all of the bulbs are very similar. You won't notice a huge difference between any of the three I suggested. They will all be slightly brighter than stock, but it won't be like you just turned on the sun.

The HIDs are great, but very few companies make a plug and play system. If you want a total headlight replacement for HIDs, scour the internet.

Oops I thought it was a Superduty. My bad. I should have been sleeping at the time I posted that.

I'd recommend Sylvania's Silverstar Ultra bulbs! I have them in my headlights and fogs. Very bright, and a nice clear white light. Sylvania says Up to 50% brighter, up to 40% more downroad visibility and up to 50% more sideroad visibility, and I'd agree. I picked up both at Wal-Mart for under 90 bucks. Easy upgrade. I would advise not doing it on a rainy or humid day. I've seen moisture fog up a lens, and it's very hard to remove.
