My truck flopped around like an old cadillac anytime I hit a bump in the road. It seemed to continue bouncing afterwards, which drove me nuts. The Rancho 9000's corrected that, the adjustability allows you to tune it how you want. I have my fronts set to 6, rears at 3 (maybe 4, can't remember). Keeps the body roll in check in around corners/bumps as well.
The steering stabilizer is where I noticed the bigger improvement. The steering wheel damn near came out of my hands a few times from going over bad sections of road. I posted a video (over in the 6.7 forum) I took before I replaced my steering stabilizer that reflected what I was feeling in the wheel, it was horrible.
The combination of replacing the shocks/stabilizer improved the handling tremendously. It's a fairly inexpensive (considering the benefits), easy do-it-yourself job too, can be done in an hour or 2 depending on how long you let the PB Blaster do its work.
This all sounds like the "Ford Death Wobble" syndrome. Been going on for years. And yes, a time or two, the wheel has darn near come right outta my hands. No questions about that.
It definitely wasn't the death wobble (very familiar with that) but just crappy handling in general over bumpy roads. My post makes is seem like the truck had DW symptoms though, sorry 'bout that.
The roads I drive on are all on hills/turns and of general (crappy) PA quality. I suspect the truck would've been fine had I been driving it on nice new roads but those are few and far between out here.
My truck has just over 20,000 on it. So far it has the solenoid tsb done and was just towed to the dealer for a seized up caliper. It has always had a tick when started and it only lasted a few seconds. Now, it has a very loud tick, in comparison, and it does not go away. I will be sending it back to the shop! (they just changed the oil)
They just changed the oil, and that started? Sounds like you have your answer, literally. I hate to say it, but that sounds pretty bad. Just being honest. Nothing I have ever heard sounds like that.....
Stupid question? You check the oil? Not that you should, cuz thats what you paid for, but, to help your case when you go back to the dealership.
Just returned from 1,200 mile round trip to Northern Minnesota pulling 7,480 lb. Lund Boat. On the way up had check engine light flash on long uphill climb outside of Madison WI. Went to nearest Ford Dealer two cylinders reporting misfire, #'s 4 and 7. Made appointment for TSB 10-25-7 investigation on Monday back at local selling dealer. Will advise as to the results. Dissapointed in this second vehicle performance issue, the first was the transmission that seems to have been corrected.
Just back from the Ford Dealer, NO check engine light. Here's the story as I understand it. No mechanical issues, ALL rockers and Cam's look good, coil over plug on #4 and #7 were replaced, no change. Ford Tech Hotline had Local Tech make the computer relearn the crank/cam shaft sensor position. This is what the paperwork called "Performed CKP Neutral profile correction." This corrected some "bad learning" in the adaptive power section of the computer. In the next week or so I'll re-attach the Boat and Trailer and see what happens when we are towing it above 4.5K on the Tach. If it goes South again I'll report back in the Misfire #4 & #7 thread.
Going to see the dealer tis morning hope it goes well as i did not buy from this dealer. Tick is at start up and only lasts for about two or three seconds and does not do do it at every startup, but, i think i here it very faintly when warm. Anyone else with the 2012 having ticking issues? I Have another issue with the ac blower iot makes a rumbling noise at all speeds?
Thanks for the quick reply,
Rhino-F250
I took mine in for the ticking noise, the first time at first dealer was told could not duplicate problem that was over a year ago, then at the begining of last year I went to another dealer and they heard the ticking noise and said it was just fuel injectors and that it is normal, even though it is the 6.2l gas engine, in between I had an instance of check engine light going on and the engine running like crap, code was a cylinder misfire, and they blamed that on a rodent chewing on my fuel injector wire, although this was hard for me to believe and they did not show me the wires damaged so I could inspect them for myself, and i did ask. I've been having so many transmission issues with mine that I have not been paying that much attention otherwise to the engine. Right now the dealer has me driving my truck around with a torque converter/flywheel noise like no other, for over a week now, and they have had it for over three months before that. My point is I'd be much more concerned with the tranny, and be watching that like a hawk.
