Got ourselves a little brush fire along Colima here in Whittier. Looks like they will knock it down pretty quick. Just north of Murphy Ranch ballfields.
According to the LA Times, 125 firefighters, 3 helicopters, 2 superscooper airplanes were used to fight the fire. It began around 5 o'clock in a remote canyon off of Colima Rd.
Colima was blocked off both ways at Whittier Blvd and at Hacienda Rd. I was out shopping, had to take an "around the barn" route to get home.
No idea how it started, but in that area, which is about one mile south of our home, it was prolly set.
Pretty suspicious to have a fire just pop up there.

It was immediately adjacent to Colima Rd, so it could have been a mechanical spark or more likely a tossed cigarette. Lucky that the winds were calm and the weather has been mild.
The paper this morning said there were several possible points of ignition and the cause was still undetermined.

Happy Yom Kippur to everyone, Jew and Gentile.
KTLA covered the fire. Pictures shot from the 'copter showed it burning in a canyon well off Colima Rd., so I had no clue where it began.
Thankfully there was no wind, otherwise...
btw: If you're LDS, everyone that ain't...is a Gentile.
He didn't make any friends among the umpires I suppose. They will probably get some payback. It might have been better to just smile and keep his mouth shut.
To me this was no different that the basketball players who flop on the floor to draw a foul, or linemen who grab chest pads. It's part of the game. If everyone was honest, the umpires and refs would be unemployed.
Peter O'Malley says the team needs new ownership. This is an opinion that I respect. The current owners have been a disaster. I was surprised to hear from O'Malley. I figured he was dead.
Also in the news, Joe Torre will retire at the end of this season. Don Mattingly will take the reins next year. Joe might as well declare his season over right now and let Don get a warm-up lap in.
