My guess to the few secs of not remembering is I haven't been feeling good the last couple days and have been kinda dizzy lately and the docs think there was a good chance I passed out for a few seconds because I wasn't sleepy.
DO NOT even go there! It is very normal to lose a few seconds when something catastrophic happens like this. Even the memory of the wall might be imaginary because you've been past it so many times and your brain is just trying to fill in the gaps.
I've had two motorcycle accidents in the woods, both of which I remember exactly like you do. I don't remember why I got into the situation, but I remember seeing what I was about to hit, thinking "Oh ****!", and then not remembering actually hitting. A few seconds to a minute later, the memory starts up again. No head trauma, no feeling crappy before hand, nothing, totally normal.
It's totally normal for your memory to play out that way.
Anyway, very happy to hear you're safe and well. It's just property, your husband will get over it and it'll get fixed.
And I have to agree with someone on here who posted (sorry I don't remember s/n's right now) who said something about me feeling horrible about the truck....I do feel horrible. And as a side note I guess, not that i can change things now but I wish I had my car (Honda CRV) instead of the truck because I know how much Tom is proud of it and now I made a complete mess of it. My first words to my coworker was "tom is gonna be mad" but he wasn't obviously (I think that was my first thought because we are finally getting to move into our house on Friday after months of frustrations and now we have nothing to tow our trailer with :-(
Maybe its a good thing you took the big pile of american steel instead of the CRV. As said before trucks can be replaced, people can't.
Someone ask me the other night at dinner what I would do if my women wrecked my truck..."Hug her" in the end I am sure he would rather have you then the truck. I'm just glad no one got hurt and you had a big piece of steel wrapped around your butt.
Gotta agree with Krewat on the memory thing I use to work as an EMT and have been in a few accidents myself (when I was younger I thought the skinny pedal had only two positions the whole way down or the whole way up). There a bunch of things going on when a human body is involved in an impact that large tons of moving steel tons of non moving rock. Things can happen so fast you don't even see them, your body is going into fight or flight mode (major adrenalin dump), parts of the brain shut down, muscles tense (that is why when you pull a drunk out of a wreck lots of time they are less hurt then sober driver in same wreck they where relaxed and didn't have fight/flight response going on) you get tunnel vision, your fixate on things.
In the end yeah it would be nice for you to know what happened but it doesn't really matter.
Tom,
I am very happy the wife lady is OK. She'll have a bit of "racing rheumatism" for a few days. The second day after the wreck is always the worsst in terms of pain and stiffness, but it will pass.. I am happy to see she got some pain meds. She will need it.
What is this about a trailer needing to be pulled? I am a little over 4 hours away from you (near Appleton).
I think the frame is bent though. The gap between the bed and cab is 1" wider on the passenger side than it is on the driver's side. This is what has me worried.
I got lookin at the pics of your truck more closely I really dont think your frame's bent... when will the damage evaluation be in?
Any chick in a Big Ford is =] Especially one who walks away from wrecking one with minor aches and pains and is able to get on FTE and tell us about it!

I meet Tom's and his wife in person and they are both great people!
Hope you'll be feeling better soon and they can get Tom's truck fixed back up. I want you guys to come back to Ohio for a visit and another day of "test" our trucks.

Im for sure down for that.. As we are a bit over do for another meet! LOL
Quick update - (this is Tom's wife btw) we haven't heard any more about the truck. Last time Tom talked to the body shop they were still taking the truck apart and this was around 6:00pm. The only thing I know is so far its over 10,000 in damage. I'll make sure one of us updates once we know more. Have a great night everyone, thanks again for thinking about us
The best thing that come from tis aside from a speedy recovery for Tom's bride would be for them to total the truck and Tom can get a 2011 (whatever he wants).
