Really sorry to see that, Tom. And like the others, relieved to hear that your wife is okay. Keep an eye on her over the day though. She may feel it more than she realizes right now.

That looks like a total loss to me.

For once I agree with everything you said. Glad she's ok, Tom. (as we'd say in the Army..."That'll buff right out")

Glad your wife is OK. Looks like the truck handled that very well. Minimal damage for a 40MPH concrete hit.

The important thing is that she's OK - imagine what would have happened if she was in a Honda?

(Not so much the car damage, because the Honda is so much lighter, it would decelerate much faster and not cause as much body/frame damage as you'd think, but in terms of deceleration of her body, versus the seat belt, etc.)

That's our best guess at the moment. She heard a loud "POP" before she left the road, I think she wasn't alert enough to compensate. There's a 4-inch tear in the sidewall, otherwise there's no damage anywhere near that wheel.

It was towed to a body shop today, I'm hoping to have an estimate by tomorrow.

I'm glad she's ok as well! However the one thing that has caught my eye (engineer, sorry) is how well the truck held together. From the pics i looked it you're facing essentially cosmetic damage aside from the steering linkage/ wheel damage. The engine bay sub frame (grey tube frame members behind fender) did its job and looks like it didn't deform, and the truck just got skinned. Did the airbags deploy?

Looking at the damage, I'd say she glanced it so it would be minimal...depending on the length. DOT's have standards for accidents based on speed in the zone. IOW, they would have had several water-filled barrels if there was a chance of a head on, or crumple zones in the guard rails if it was permanent.

It is weird to get out of a front end collision regain your thoughts, and notice the force you hit with actually knocked your truck lid open. On most of those cars you could actually see ripples in the rear quarter panels.

I would say the puddle jumpers are safe; however this truck will be fixable, a puddle jumper would be totaled, but safe.

Important thing is that crazy's wife is safe and sound. The truck will be fixed.

WTF...Are you a stunt driver?? Man you're lucky. Seriously though, trucks can be fixed or replaced. Not people though

Seriously, I'd rather hit something with my 250 than my Fusion or any of my Stangs.

I think the frame is bent though. The gap between the bed and cab is 1" wider on the passenger side than it is on the driver's side. This is what has me worried.

Hehe, maybe! Not sure I like paying full MSRP for a truck though...

Virtually none.

I was mistaken when I said concrete retaining wall. It's solid rock where they cut through the hill for the road, will post a pic if I get the chance.
