OUCH! Glad to hear the wife is OK! I'd still keep an eye on her, she'll probably be hurting more tomorrow. Makes me glad I know my family is cruising around in a large vehicle!
I think the frame is bent though. The gap between the bed and cab is 1" wider on the passenger side than it is on the driver's side. This is what has me worried.
Might just be that the body has shifted on the frame.
Glad to hear karris ok! And it doesnt look like the bags went off as in one of the pics you can see the entire dash. But the truck can be replaced or repaired. It doesnt look like a total loss. Ive had explorer hit my excursions drivers fender doin 50 mph and the truck was a v-10, with 180k and it was 1,000 dollars over from not being totaled and obviously your truck has alott more value.
Might just be that the body has shifted on the frame.
Mike
Entirely possible I suppose, my truck's frame is diamond and the only place you can see it is in the rear bumper and front axle... it doesn't take much but rumor has it mine tangled with a semi to get that way. My thoughts are tho, if the entire frame was that bad it'd show else where and I didnt see it in the pics so I would guess the cab mounts gave way
WTF...Are you a stunt driver?? Man you're lucky. Seriously though, trucks can be fixed or replaced. Not people though
lol, nope. Just had a rough start to my driving, that was about 14 years ago though, haven't been in an accident in the last decade *looks for wood to knock on*
Thanks for thinking about me. (this is tom's wife btw). I drive by the rock wall everyday going to and from work (I'm a security guard) and I never once thought something like this would happen. To my best memory all I can tell you first hand was I heard a "pop" noise (which now we are thinking it was the back passenger tire) and then I don't remember anything for a few secs and next thing I know I was about to hit the rock wall. I hit the brake but I'm not sure it did a whole lot. Luckily my co-worker (who is also a part time cop) that I'd just gotten off shift with was in front of me and he heard the crash and turned around and was with me the entire time. *hopefully we can get a picture of the wall up here today*
My guess to the few secs of not remembering is I haven't been feeling good the last couple days and have been kinda dizzy lately and the docs think there was a good chance I passed out for a few seconds because I wasn't sleepy.
And I have to agree with someone on here who posted (sorry I don't remember s/n's right now) who said something about me feeling horrible about the truck....I do feel horrible. And as a side note I guess, not that i can change things now but I wish I had my car (Honda CRV) instead of the truck because I know how much Tom is proud of it and now I made a complete mess of it. My first words to my coworker was "tom is gonna be mad" but he wasn't obviously (I think that was my first thought because we are finally getting to move into our house on Friday after months of frustrations and now we have nothing to tow our trailer with :-(
Just thought I would say thank you to everyone for thinking about me and the truck, I'm really really sore today and stiff so I think I'm gonna find a different chair to sit in. I'm assuming Tom will post once we know more about the truck.
Thanks for the update.
The most important thing is that you're ok.
And take care of yourself. Did you get checked out by a doc? I just want to make sure you don't have any injuries that might be on the inside. Because hitting a wall like that can bang a person up pretty bad.
I did go to the ER right away. They were nervous at first about my back and almost sent me for an MRI but they decided that whatever the scan showed was just with me getting older and let me go home. I am out of work for a couple days and on some pain meds. I have to go back to a doctor tomorrow to see how everything is going and possibly be kept out of work another few days since i'm up on my feet a lot and i'm having a hard time getting around right now. I didn't think I would hurt more today then the day of the actually accident....its gonna make a long day. I have to say I was never more scared in my entire life....I don't think I'm ever gonna wanna drive again :-( It probably doesn't help that I can't shake feeling horrible about the truck. I know everyone on here has said its just a truck and they can be fixed or replaced but I feel horrible about the whole thing still and I'm so frustrated that I can't remember those few secs in between.
On a side note - we just heard from the body shop that is looking at Tom's truck. They are having a hard time looking at everything. They told us they will be taking it apart to look at the damages and let us know. Sorry I don't know more technical terms, I don't understand cars/trucks whatsoever. lol
