I'm hoping I'll have it running soon. By running I mean engine running, not road worthy. I'm pleased at the pace things have been going these past few months even though I'm still not done yet. I laugh at myself thinking back a year ago when i first thought about doing this. "It should only take six months!" LOL. Other projects/weather have interrupted this one and have set me back 4-5 months. Unfortunately I have another project coming up in a month that will put this on hold again. That gives me February to work on it and I'm hoping to have it "running" by then. Today I mounted up some kind of gas vapor emission thing. Not sure what it's called or even exactly what it does. Its about 8 inches in diameter and about two feet long and I mounted it where the old front/side tank was. It has a tube that goes to the gas take and one that goes to the motor. I also took out the old rear tank to see what there had to be fabbed up. Decided to buy a 38 gallon rear tank from LMC for $227. I'll get more into detail about that next weekend when I start welding on gas tanks. If i survive!!! Wasn't much I could do there, so I started on the A/C lines. Started piecing together what I had and while it was promissing. What I have won't work together ,so I'm off to the pick-n-pull tomorrow to see what I can piece together.

That's the vapor emissions canister. On my F250, it's on the driver's side under the hood, on the inner fender. Does it have any electrics going to it?

Just one censor.

Had some real good luck at the P-N-P. Wasn't having good luck at first trying to find A/C stuff. I started to leave when I came across a 2001 E350 bus with a V10 in it. There's some stuff that has either gotten damaged during this build or stuff I let go to the scrap yard. I was able to get some of those things back again and there is still more there I need too go get.
Came home and worked on the A/C system. You can live without heat here in Texas, but not A/C!! I didn't find anything at the PNP, but was able to use some parts from my 86 F250, 89 F150 and the Van to make what I think will be a working A/C system.

I enjoy the local P-N-P 'cause you never know what you'll find. It's pretty funny to sometimes see cars and trucks there that have parts on them that are marked with P-N-P's paint markers. Where someone was working on the vehicle and it finally came home to the P-N-P for it's final rest.

Austin finally got one about two weeks ago and I've already been twice. Use to have to travel an hour away to San Antonio to go to the nearest one. Craigslist was the only relief for cheap parts locally. The junkyards around here think there stuff is gold and you got an extra charge if you didn't speak spanish.

I had a friend with a bone yard down in Miami Florida and he got so tired of the Cubans and Haitians trying to talk Spanish or French at him he had a sign made for behind the counter saying "This is My country and we speak english here and if you can't speak engish, Get the F--- out!" The sign was in 3 languages, English, Spanish and French. Then he had to contend with the ones that couldn't read. He was a Good ol' Boy and took no crap from nobody. A real Florida Cracker.

Seems like I'm usually the only white person at the junkyards around here. Both times I went to the PNP I was wearing my work shirt and they all kept coming up to me asking questions in spanish or bad english. I'm a nice guy so I tried helping them as much as possible, but half couldn't even speak a word or two of english. Times are changing....guess I'm the minority now and I need to start learning spanish.

There seems to be a Mexican crew that is first in the local P-N-P yard every day here in Va. Beach. If INS checked them they would probably take about half of them to jail.

You know you can bolt in a 32 gallon bronco Tank in the place of the rear tank. Might be cheaper that the LMC tank if you can find a good used one.

Cool project by the way!

Can we NOT let this thread go to the great thread-grave in the sky?

Thanks! I was on the fence about which tank to get. I wanted to use the fuel pump from the V10 tank. The problem with a stock 19 gallon tank is it's too shallow. That left me either the 32 bronco or the special 38 gallon. I didn't know if the later model bronco tank would accept the V10 pump and I know the 38 wouldn't without modification. I'm guessing the bronco wouldn't have worked either without some modification too. So that leaves me with two different tanks that would need to be welded. I'm not into welding on an old gas tank if i don't have to. So either i paid $110 for the 32 or $180 for the 38 (both are before shipping). After a little liquid courage, I decided on the 38. I hope it works

Oh, if this thing actually runs and moves under it's own power, it's gonna be in the sticky

I have plans to make a tech folder of engine transplants for this forum. The typical Cummins installs, modulars into older vehicles, etc.

This definitely qualifies as a modular transplant, on steroids

Gas tank welding

I had some Jamaican mechanics working for me in Florida that welded leaky gas tanks often. The process they used to make any remaining fuel vapors neutral was to run a car's exhaust into the tank for about half an hour and then they welded or brazed as needed. I would go for an hour just for safety's sake myself. I've never done it but I have seen it done.
