Sorry to hijack my own thread, but I was so thrilled about some vehicles I saw today and i had to share them with you guys. There will be two auction for those vehicles and i finally got the chance to go see the second batch of vehicles for the MUCH COOLER auction that will be held in May.
To answer your question Paul, That 79/442 is part of the first auction and there are two more pics in the link. It looks to be unmolested and the interior is in good shape for Texas. Dash is shot but the rest is restorible. Two rare things it has are T-Tops and an aluminum hood. Wikipedia has a lot of info on the W30 442
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I been thinking about doing something kind of similiar. Mine vehicle is a 98 Expedition 5.4 swapping with a 00 5.4 E-Series and not sure how this would pan out.
Sorry, I misdirected you here, this is for a V10 not the V8. There are some threads regarding your swap in the F150 forums. I think the biggest hinderance will be the intake and possibly the oil pan and pickup.

Are you putting the 98 engine in the 00 or the 00 into the 98? It's a simple swap using the parts you have but if you put a 98 engine into an 00 you will need to use the 00 cams and intake to keep from having less power. Use all the covers and accessorys off the vehicle the engine is going in either way.
I'm still around. Sorry to disappoint you guys but I've been busy with other vehicles and haven't had the time to play with the ford. To make it worse, a chevy S10 and porsche 911 have jumped in front of it when it comes to getting my attention. I'm usually somebody who completes something before I move on to the next. I wish I had some good news like I'll be working on it soon, but I don't.
Hi, I'm kinda new here but,I think all of you have done this man a great injustice. Why? I understand that hind site is 20/20, but forethought is the power of envisionment. I completely understand why someone would want to do this swap. (The V10 thing.) Why didn't anyone suggest when the man said that he was going to install the Strerling rear axle from the van, and then arguing about frame flex, suggest the most in your face thing to do? What I am being so bold to say is; Why didn't anybody think to suggest selling all of the parts and buying a F250 frame that was complete and swapping on the '89 body? Frame flex is a serious subject, the fact that this man is boxing only portions of the frame is making the frame weakest right at the very edge of the boxing. Not to mention that when this project is completed this truck will only have the hauling and towing ratings that it came with from the factory. Sorry if this post rubs anyone the wrong way, it is not what I was trying to do. I am just a simple man with simple ideas. Why try to reinvent the wheel! The engineers at Ford have been working on a truck like this for years that this man is trying to invent. I fact there is one down the road from me for sale for $3200.00 its called a '01 Ford F250 SD regular cab long box that has a V10 with 87,000 miles. I will say no more. I guess I will. I hope that this mans project is everything he wants it to be when it is finished, Gods speed to all.
It's late for me and I'm not in the mood to get into a long drawn out explanation of what I'm doing with a complete drive train and truck I got for free! Some of us enjoy the build more than the final product and I have a F350 with a 7.3 if I ever need to do any serious towing. This creation might have to tow my mud truck around at best! More than likely it will be towing my 2500lbs 911 or my 3000lbs sbc/T56 S10. Neither of which will stress a f150 frame. To tell truth it more than likely will be my daily driver to work(90mile round trip), now that's idiotic.
A lot of people just don't get "it". Sometimes I wish I didn't have the "it" either. Sure would be nice to have nothing to do. As of right now the porsche and the S10 will have to wait for their engine swaps until I'm done with the V10/F150 and the ultimate tailgate smoker I'm building. So as soon as I get done with the smoker I will get back on track with the F150. Here's an old pic of the smoker, and I'll post a finished when done
LOL. When I'm done with it, you'll be able to bake a pizza(oven on other side) smoke a brisket, grill hamburgers and cook fajitas on the flat grill all at the same time. There's even a spot on the trailer for the coolers of beer
