I have plans to make a tech folder of engine transplants for this forum. The typical Cummins installs, modulars into older vehicles, etc.

This definitely qualifies as a modular transplant, on steroids
That's some good motivation for me to get this thing done even faster and I would be honored...thanks

First of all, this is an awesome build can't wait to see it running and driving. I think you should start looking for a supercharger to put on top of the v10 or a turbo setup. (is this a 3v or 2v?)

Also, two things I thought of while reading through this thread:

1) For frame stiffness, if you go through the frame and weld all of the rivets to the crossmembers and then to the frame it will give you a noticeable boost in the rigidity of the frame.

2) I see you solid mounted the motor, this is not a problem as long as you solid mount the transmission as well. If you do not when you get on it the transmission will try to flex independently of the engine and eventually you will crack the transmission case.

Good luck, can't wait to see it finished

Thanks for the tips!
Sorry there's no progress this weekend because I think the snow storms have slowed down my parts from coming in.

Got this Dana 70 for my 4x4, but plan on using the airbags for the V10 F150

Got the tank on thursday and spent today modifying it for the V10 fuel pump. The old dirty tank is the stock F150 19 gallon tank, long one is the van tank and then the new 38 gallon LMC fuel tank. The V10 fuel pump is physically larger than the stock F150 pump yet their mounting cover diameter is the same. The biggest difference is how they attach to the tank. The V10 pump is bolted to the tank while I believe all pre-96 are held down with a ring that tighten as you screw it on (similar to a radiator cap). As you can see, I hacked up the van tank to get that ring. Another difference between the two is, the van pump bolts flat on the tank and the truck pump sits at an angle. To mount the V10 pump, I welded the ring to the hole after some grinding and cutting of the stock hole. I also had to lengthen the fuel pump bracket so that the actual pump/pick-up filter sat lower and farther back in the tank. I got the tank installed and will post some more pics tomorrow.

Why didnt you just use the old fuel pump? Im sure the V10 requires 40psi just like your old EFI engine

Same reason I didn't use the 8.8 too. I don't want the computer to give me any reason not to work. I'm sure I could have made it work but if i can simply modify something, then thats what i'm going to do. There is also a difference between the fuel tubes and pumps between the two. The V10 is larger and i think flows more volume. I also think the pumps circulate fuel differently. The stock pump had a supply line and a return line coming out the top. The V10 pump also had those, plus a vent tube coming out the top. It also had another tube coming from the pump that looks like another type of return line. Another issue was the age/mileage of the pump/axle.

I would also like to add that I think the Bronco 32 gallon tank more than likely would have worked even better than the 38LMC. I had to extend the pump about two inches.

All you need is pump pressure, nothing more

For an easy solution, stick with the V10 pump. Flow is just as important as pressure, when it comes to any type of pump.

It was easier modifying the tank for the V10 pump then it was for running those fuel/vent lines. I almost got it done yesterday, but with the sunny mid 70's here, and some beer. I went right out underneath the truck.

Finally got around to getting a pic of the tank installed. Ta daa!!

The S10 in the back ground is for my Mom. I originally was going to give her the F150 back after the transplant ,but decided to keep it for myself and get another truck for her. I'll be busy with the S10 for a little while. The S10 was in a front end collision and just needs the front clip replaced and painted. Shouldn't take but a weekend or two and I should be right back onto the V10 F150. I'll probably get some done on the F150 while waiting for filler, primer or paint to dry on the S10.
