Sorry to hear of the problem, I feel your pain, been there and had to do that. Hopefully it will be an easy fix.
I'll be looking forward to the pics of the X member and the mods you made to it.
After digging up the septic lid and getting a little "dirt" on my hands, I was able to get my septic system working again. Turns out it was clogged up before the tank. Stuck a small snake up the tube with no success. So I got up on the roof and blew compressed air down the vent tubes. EUREKA!! So I was able to get working on the transmission mount. Mine is on the left and stock is right. The long straight piece sits on the bottom edge of the frame. I used a rubber mount that is suppose to be for an 86 F250 4x4. The stock mount is about 1-2 inches higher and I would have had too drop crossbeam even lower. With the 4x4 mount, the tranny sits right on top of the cross member. The other two pieces bolt to the top of the frame and then bolt to the other cross member.
I spent $50 for U-bolts, black spray paint $20, $5 weld-on spring mounts. I'm keeping track of what I spend as I go. Can't remember what I paid for the steel. It was sitting around for awhile.
What breakage? The only thing he's going to possibly break is the frame or his motor/tranny mounts he had to fab himself, and I have faith in his fabricating skills
I just thought it was nice to have someone to send the bill to. You looked like a good suspect.
From all I've seen his fab skills are above average, for sure.
Here it is installed. The picture makes the left side look much longer than the right but it's only about 1-2 inches longer than the right.Plenty of room for dual exhaust!! Hopefully tonight I'll be picking up the front suspension from a 95 F250.
I'm throwing the dice when it comes to pinion angle. I haven't measured it, but i don't think it's too far from stock. The tranny can't be adjusted up or down. If there is a vibration or I end up going through U-joints, then I'll start by shimming the axle.
Front suspension/brakes and almost delivered to my door for $100. Everything to convert to 8-lug and it all looks to be recently rebuilt or newish.
Wasn't the rear from the van a 8 lug unit? You could also use the IRS from a Expedition and set the angle dead on. It's more fabrication but it would make your truck unique at both ends.
