well i was just going to use them the D5TE heads are the truck heads from 1975 and they look identical to the DO0E heads aside from the spark plug hole size. The combustion chambers are the same and i measured the valve sizes and they are identical. Trucks did not have to follow the smog crap and switch to unleaded until later on in the 70s
the only other differance i can see aside from the spark plug sizes is the hump in the exhaust ports i guess it was for the internal air injection crap but nothing a carbide grinder bit wont fix
STOP!!!!........STEP AWAY FROM THE TRUCK!....
You broke off 8 of 16 exhaust manifold bolts?
At this point, to preserve my knuckles and sanity, I would just take the intake off and pull the heads. Take the heads to a machine shop and get the bolts out without damaging anything, you can inspect the heads and valves, get a look down in the comb. chambers. Throw on a set of new head gaskets and intake gasket and you are actually ahead of the game for a few years down the road!

Hmmm...
Bookmarking this thread for future reference.
Rather than fight with the 18-year-old OE header bolts on mine I may go this route.
Pick up a set of GT40's from the junkyard, have them cleaned up, etc, bolt my headers to them and put them back on.
Heck, may even swap on the Exploder intake too since I'll have it all apart!
(I can take a different approach now that the truck does not have to serve backup DD duties... I bought a new DD!)
yeah i lucked out with my spare motor being a d4te it had one DO0E head on it and one D5TE head on it both have 60.4cc combustion chambers and same valve sizes BIG ONES lol. The only differences between the 2 is the air injection ports in the D5TE. Once i got the heads off my spare motor i looked at the pistons and they are brand spanking new shining purty at me. At least i know that i have a good short block to use if i crack my block.
