yes starting the engine and getting it hot will draw the pb blaster down the threads a little... I have also ran it hot and shot it with pb while running and then held a piece of dry ice to the bolt to cool just the bolt. Molecules in bolt shrink and make it smaller and the heat from engine makes the threaded hole a little bigger... Then try torquing it off. remember back and fourth pressure on the bolt to break it free... if it comes loose a little i usually hit it with pb and screw it in and out a couple times to make sure it won't get stuck again while trying to take it out. Works the rust loose and the pb into the threads... back and fourth is the key though...
Ok i will do the get the engine to operating temp and cool them with dry ice. I was wondering if i can do it with the headers off will it mess up the engine to run it without them?
STOP!!!!........STEP AWAY FROM THE TRUCK!....
You broke off 8 of 16 exhaust manifold bolts?
At this point, to preserve my knuckles and sanity, I would just take the intake off and pull the heads. Take the heads to a machine shop and get the bolts out without damaging anything, you can inspect the heads and valves, get a look down in the comb. chambers. Throw on a set of new head gaskets and intake gasket and you are actually ahead of the game for a few years down the road!
