Was there ever any update on benefits to the PHP FICM flash? Just curious.
Definitely resulted in some more power. Probably not a lot, but enough to notice. I had thought the fuel economy had come up by a half a mpg, but that is just not enough to show up as a "sure thing" on the fuel economy charting that I am doing.

All-in-all, I am happy with it.
Mark,
I have a FICM that is bad (19.5v as posted today on another thread) would your recommend a tuned FICM for anyone who was faced with replacing?
It is already studded, and I have a 64mm Non-VGT turbo.
Also i am faced with a having to replace this pretty soon. I have a 2800 mile road trip in a little more than a week.
tim what year is your truck?
whats wrong with the turbo?
It is an 04, the turbo went out year and a half ago when i had my first go around with the EGR cooler. It ate some metal somewhere along the line. After that, i went with a non VGT turbo for a couple reasons mainly because I have access to Schwitzer S300 turbos at work, shhh dont tell my boss.
It had been running rough lately and I just did a FICM voltage check and it was showing 19.5 v at idle so from all accounts, the FICM needs to go.
You can try the solder repair yourself. The procedure is in the Tech Folder.
Swamps Diesel also repairs FICM's. You could send it to them, have it repaired, and then have them send it to PHP or Innovative Diesel.
I saw a detailed repair procedure for the "4 Screw" version of the FICM, but not for the "7 Screw" that mine is. Are they fundamentally the same? I trust myself with most things and repair, but electronics soldering,,,,,, not so sure i trust myself.

The repair is the same. On the row of 4 screws one end is 12v the other end is 48v. The two in the middle are labeled 5v gnd and +5v logic with gnd being next to the 12v. The three screw row you can ignore. They are gnd, clock, gnd, in that order. DON"T TOUCH THE CASE WITH THE PROBE while you are touching a screw.
