When I had power windows from a 90 truck in my 85, there was a short in the harness. I would have to stretch the harness out right behind the switch to get it to work. After a few bumps in the road it would quit working again.
At RH switch:
Lt Blue/Black- 12V supply
Yellow/Black- 12V in up position from the master switch
Red/ Black- 12V in down position from master switch
Should alternate wire opposite of 12V to ground, depending on switch position.
From RH switch to motor:
Yellow/ Red- 12V in up
Red/Yellow- 12V in down
hummm, i go out today, say a few choice words and it starts working... i am gonna take it that the dead spot in the motor is probably it... now if i can just remember NOT to roll it down all the way.

I don't think thats very likely. The motor makes several complete turns as the window travels all the way up and down so you could just as easily have it die somewhere in the middle if that were the case.
This happened to me once when my sister rolled down the window on the passenger side and it simply died for a few hours with no apparent explanation. Eventually it fixed itself and came back to life. I'm more enclined to believe it was the automatic fuse cut off inside the motor that killed it. After a while it reset on its own. In theory it should reset in a few minutes at the most but maybe after some 20 years of door slamming and pot holes it can doesn't work perfectly anymore. I've never had the problem since and that was some 3 years ago if I remember right.
it did it to me once before, a few weeks ago, but it only lasted about 10 minutes and it went back to working.
I think that when i threatened to break out the drill and sockets that i scared it back to working... kinda weird to me that it is built to where ya have to drill out 2 dimples to get tot he bolts... oh well... now if i can only get this job tomorrow, then i could afford to fix up a few more things...
I had problems with the connector at the window motor it was loose from all them damn potholes!! I just crimped em a bit never had a problem since. that could be an issue
