1999 E350. Went to roll down passenger side window from driver's side - nothing happens. Tried from passenger side switch and window will go down but not up. (rolled back up using spare battery). Switches are all the same and I switched them out and they all worked the driver side window, also cleaned them. So - switches OK, motor OK - what's the problem? Broken wire? Thanks
One of the PW circuits have failed---your motors are working as you've already demonstrated.
My best guess is one of the switch mounting blocks secured to the door trim panels has developed a loose female terminal---not all that uncommon.
It could also be the male contacts of the switch itself has become corroded--easily cleaned and re-inserted to test operation. Here's a photo:
If you'll be doing this sort of work yourself in the future get an EVTM which is all the schematics for your particular year, make and model---they're invaluable for such tasks.
Nope, broken wire. Did continuity tests and brown/blue wasn't right. More tests and it was probably in the boot between the door & chassis. Ran new wire and all is fine. Thanks for your response.
