Good morning everyone. We have rain showers over here. If it gets colder it will be snow showers. I am NOT looking forward to a snowy summer. But, if it happens it happens.
Good morning everyone. We had a little rain last night. Cloudy & about 50 degrees. The other thing Jeff is as you said earlier you have two seasons in Nevada. You don't know how true that is. I have seen it go from this to 100 degrees almost over night. Nevada has a very harsh climate. Ever notice all the ranching & farming in Western Nevada but not one bit of food for humans. In part because the growing season is too short & harsh for human food crops to be profitable.
Steve, That is very much the same thing that happened in I believe it was 1780s with the Iceland eruptions. I saw this on like History Channel or one of those channels awhile back.
Hi everyone! Could that be it, volcanoes in Iceland? It spit snow at my house last night too, and it's unusually cool down here, only 75-80. Although the first spring I lived in Fallon (2006) it snowed on Memorial day weekend. I think Craig's right, we've had some unusually mild years and now it's going back to normal.

Michelle,
I hope I'm wrong. I liked the milder winters personally. I really don't mind the cold or snow, as long as we get sun every few days. But since we are staying another year in Fallon, I will head South to Arizona in the worst of the winter for a 3 or 4 day break as needed. It is my buddy in Hawthorne that keeps saying he has heard that we are returning to the weather cycle of the days of our youth. If that is true this will be considered a fairly mild winter. Because Smith Valley NV, & Yerington would get up to 3 feet of snow in the winter months. The normal for Conway Summit on 395 between Bridgeport & Lee Vining CA was 8 to 10 feet. Lake Tahoe would have 5-6 feet all winter long.
I remember when I skied with the Reno Huskies we would have at least 3 or 4 weekends that got canceled because the buses couldn't get to Sky Tavern on the Mt Rose Highway. Mt Rose Hwy would be closed more than open.
