Morning Michelle. You need to stop using those nasty four-letter words, especially that "S" word!! High 80's here all weekend, it was wonderful! Should be about 90 today. About damn time!!

I think that volcano really wreaked havoc on the weather patterns, we had those 90 degree days back in April, now were lucky to see 70 now days, the nights are nice in the 40-50's!

Just the amount of particles it adds to the atmosphere can reduce global temps! Someone better call that Gore guy to get that straightened out!

Good Evening everyone.

Michelle, Sadly the CFC deal was a scam. The real deal was DuPont's patient on R-12 & several other CFC type freons had run out. The DuPont family used their power to get the Government to outlaw it. I was working for a Government contractor in refrigeration when this all came about. R-134 & all the synthetic freons are far more dangerous the the CFCs ever were. When they came out DuPout sent a warning of the dangers of these new freons to all refrigeration contractors. When I read it I couldn't believe what I read. I got out of refrigeration shortly after. The warning stated that any tech working with these new freons MUST wear a full chemical proof suit. That they can be highly explosive in a leak condition because they separate. That is why you should never just add R-134A to a system. You need to completely discharge & evacuate & recharge.
I'm still carry an EPA Type I & II high pressure cert. Along with an ASE refrigeration cert.
Sorry for the long blog but most people don't know the truth about this.

So Craig, you are saying that one should not recharge their 134A system, only by a qualified tech? Crap, I've doing my daughters for awhile now.

I plugged in a commercial freezer today, the compressor started clicking, and the next thing I knew all the refrigerant evacuated itself into the room. I left after telling them that their freezer was a POS..

I tried to get rid of a old refrigerator, the town wouldn't take it until I had a certified evacuated service remove the stuff, $120 to remove, the day before the guy was coming to do it, someone took it from out in front of the house.
