Hi peeps, we got a blizzard going up here at Tahoe!!! (wtf?)
Had to go down to the valley this morning, went to look at motorcycles etc. and got home about two hours later than I was expected but I fooled her, I bought roses!! However it was really snowing like hell coming over the pass. Now it's snowing like hell here at my place. (6,500 ft.)
Once again my fence building project is on hold. Better snow than rain I guess, less likely to fill up my post holes.

If you want to read something about "The summer that never happened 1816" due to a volcano that erupted in Indonesia.

Good Evening Everyone. It is going good, thanks for asking Pat, Russ, & Steve. Bruce I have lived in Nevada most of my life & I keep telling you guys this is more normal than most believe or think. In the 50s-70s this was the norm. I have seen a foot of snow in Smith Valley NV in July. In the 50s we lived on Reeves Ave in Reno about a mile up Seventh St off Keystone on the right. I remember almost every winter we would get up to 2 feet of snow in one storm. Then then several smaller snows.
In the late 60s I lived in Lake Tahoe & running chains (because 4x4s weren't around much) from Nov-March was the norm.
In the 70s I drove a milk truck to June Lakes from Yerington & I remember having to chain up out of Smith Valley headed to Bridgeport & had to run them to June Lakes & back to Bridgeport several times in the winter months. In the winter of 1969 I believe it was I got snowed into Lee Vining Ca for 4 days. It took that time to dig out over Conway Summit which got almost 20 feet of snow in two days. Lee Vining got a foot an hour for 7 hours.

Yeah Craig, all that fits with other stories I have heard. I have lived up here since the end of 1988 and in that time I have seen snow in every calendar month. Several times on the fourth of July.
We got about eight inches today, but it's high water content. If it had been really cold it would have made over a foot of powder.
