Ok. Grooved drums on new shoes. Yes on re-adjusting after running.
Either run to Chicago on the back roads and back (eek!!) or several short runs should work.
They weren't so grooved as much as just old. I was afraid to remove material as these drums are so hard to find. I had never had them operational to have a sence of runout so I just went with it lol.. im hopefully they come around some.. sadly the np435 second gear is not healthy so i think at some point ill pull it for a refresh. It never ends
The fenders, I'm not sure how it would shake out but I have a LOT of unused real-estate up front for sure. Its a lil goofy for sure.
I know there were 2 different versions on the fenders, but maybe 3?. Seems I read that at one time.
My Dad had a single axle swb dump (66) and it too had the enlarged fr fenders. It also had bad brakes. I put a rebuilt booster on it and it was good to go then. Booster was under the cab, drivers side.
Some of the heavier duty, such as construction era dump trucks with dual rear axles, had 10.00x20 tires and wheels.
True, even 11.00-20, which is a big heavy tire. Most F 500 or F 600 came with 8.25-20 or 9.00-20 which appears to be on the red 2 ton and the green F600 in the thread.

I know the 2wd light trucks vs 4wd were diff then the big trucks had the larger yet.
Sadly I have the possibly less desirable booster on the firewall. I have found in this process that the booster like i have had 14" front drums. The "treadlevac" under cab system had 15" front drums. I had a treadle treadlevac system from a 66 I parted out but didn't save any of it like a dummy. I have a feeling I should have swapped over to that.
this project has drug on so long that I just need it usable now.
This project is far from done but deff usable now for sure other than plates. I let it sit for a couple weeks and like majic man does it have brakes now. I guess it had a big air bubble that I couldn't bleed out.
I was able to tear the booster down and spec out some seals and whittled it into being usable for $2.25 seal and a couple orings.
Whatever the camshaft was in my engine kit is much too aggressive for this 2bbl turd. Not super happy as its chopper than my 4v 390 in my 64 galaxie.
Also I fixed the inop fuel gauge...yea the tank is empty...and proven thus.
One of these days I'll tackle some cosmetics on the old gal.
Woo hoo I got lucky and picked up a set of 22.5 off a lil newer uhaul a fella had scrapped out. More brake issues and I needed to go back and pack rear wheel bearings.
After replacing brake lines that I did 15 years ago and were all I didn't replace last year and one wheel cylinder we have a tight brake system again. I also went back and packed the rear wheel bearings and put new hub seals and axle gaskets even.. He is doing so good I drove to the gas station even. I guess this week I'll put plates on it since its had Hagerty ins for 6months now..
I started reading this thread and stayed with it to the end. Very encouraging! You should be proud of the distance - start to finish! My valve covers look like a red that hot oil got to. Kinda burnt orange.

wow, thanks for sticking with me. It did not go as I originally planned. I hope it wasn't too much dissapointment lol. I did the ford red so I hope its reasonably close in color. I am pleased with it thats for sure. Next will be some cosmetic things. I have very nice set of fenders for it so rad support also and some cab corner repairs. It won't be leaving my ownership thats for sure.
Well, I tried helping a buddy out last sat. Friday I went and attempted to get this titled and plated. I live in Indian and this came from my Dad just over in Kentucky. Come to find out I had never noticed but the vin on the title is not a vin and does not have a single digit in common with this truck. I sent Dad to the courthouse with all pertinent info as its still in his name. Come to find out this title had been messed up since before 1983 (records not avail before that) luckily the clerk says its nbd. I get to drive this ol reliec 15 miles on the highway at 35-40 mph to have a police inspection done in KY. Funny thing is the one I had done in Indiana isn't good enough for Kentucky. Fun times but they are going to get it fixed so thats most important.
