Thanks ta. I used that ford pn ($25 each) to call the good place i should have called. He crossed it to a Dayton and Meritor pn
That is 6" od and 5 -1/8 bolt circle. $10 in gaskets cost $15 to ship but it is what it is. I really need this usable. I have 2 huge oaks I have to haul home very soon.
All these years and here we are in a time crunch.
Hey ta455, do you have the rest of that manual? I can't find rear diff capacity. I'm wanting to service trans and diff this week.
brake lines, rear brake hose tonight and master cyl should be here today and maybe rear hub gaskets.
I worked on the tail light wiring rat nest last night. I pulled a pile of nastiness out. Soldering and heat shrinking and looming it all back. What would you know? Rear lights are functional tho I plan to add some marker lights to the end of the bed soon as well.
I failed at a before and after photo but that is the junk removed..terrible.
Having said that I would mention that there are no 'capacities' listed in the master parts catalog. It's all about part numbers. For capacities you'd want a glovebox type of owners manual. Or possibly the Service Specifications booklet for 1965.
5 gallon bucket will do it. Then you'll have extra for something else.
I just don't know how long until I would. All my other stuff requires synthetic. Maybe I will and run it a while and service it again. What is in there must have a lot of parifine in it.. the gunk in the ends of the tube is weird like parifine. I need to get it hot!!
I put a new muffler and tail pipe on last night. I serviced the trans also.. poor np435 only had maybe a quart in it.. 4qts in so we will have to keep an eye on that. I am afraid the pto where the shifter plunger goes in prob is seeping.
No brake parts other than master cyl arrived. Hopefully today line and rear hose will be here.
Those pto shafts will have some wear on the bushings causing the seal to leak. So ck the bushing. Seal should be available from a brg and seal distributor.
What did you put in the trans for grease?
I've always used 90w, same as the rear end. Thats why I mentioned a bucket of grease. Lol
Farm stores will be cheaper on grease than parts houses. You may already know that though.
N new exhaust, serviced rear diff.
I completed all new brake lines properly bent and flared with new horses, cylinders , shoes and master cylinder. I rebuilt the booster that was stuck as well. The brakes are bled and adjusted. I just wish it stopped better. Anybody know how well or lack of well this should stop? I'm nervous to put 12k on the bed....
A lot of the older trucks didn't have "good" brakes. Just brakes.
Snug up your shoes as close as you can without them dragging/pulling on the drums when turning by hand. Just some slight noise, letting you know the shoes are right there.
And make sure the booster is working. You should be able to here it when appyling brakes. Parked, engine idling.

I have them adjusted fairly well. I'm hoping that maybe after all these new shoes get bedded into the old, not machined drums things will improve. Ill drive and readjust maybe this weekend. I rebuilt the booster myself. It sure feels like I have assist and the pedal "feel" feels fine.
Ok. Grooved drums on new shoes. Yes on re-adjusting after running.
Either run to Chicago on the back roads and back (eek!!) or several short runs should work.
Do these '61-'66 F 500- 600's, with standard narrow front axles, really need those large fenders? Photo of this '66 F 500-F600 reminds of the way '57-'60 F500-F600 were built, with narrow fenders.
Mercury, too, isn't it? Fenders badges also look like it in addition to name on valance above grill. The writing in yellow overhead looks dubbed in and might be. Assuming this is in the middle east there sure are some other Ford/Mercury trucks down the row a way. Cool picture.
