Why does the hood lift slightly in the back??
Why is it that these trucks hoods always lifts up slightly at the back where it meets the cowl? Unless they have very low mileages everyone I've seen are this way. My left will stay down but the right will lift up about 1/2 inch. I'll push it back down and eventually it will work its way back up. Does that mean the springs are week? The hood lifts fine and I've oiled all the hindge points.

its just a thing on these old trucks. both of my dents do the same thing. you might try loosenin the bolts on the fender and seein if you can get the hinge to move down a little. on mine the hinge had wiggled its way up a bit, and when i fixed it, it helped, but i still have to push it down to get it to line up after i open and close the hood each time.

You actually need to adjust the hood to open MORE which will make the hinge collapse more as it reaches the end of it's travel.
Either loosen the front bolts and lift the hood open or loosen the rear bolts and open the hood. Try either, or you may have to adjust both to get the hood to collapse more.

You are on the right track. I went through this this past summer after I rebuilt my 300 I6, and cleaned the engine bay and painted everything, the back of the hood would stay up when you closed it and the body lines did not match.
TO get the back of the hood down flush, you need to loosen the rear hood hinge bolt, and move the rear down, then when you shut it, it will pull it down further, and line the hood up more with the cowl.
but if you have the front way out, it won't be so easy. It is a lot of trial and error, usually heavy on the error.
Make sure the bolt, and what you are screwing into is not stripped out, or it will be all for not. It can get frustrating, but take your time, and remember logic does not always work.
When I did mine the front sides of the hood extend over beyond the left and right fenders. It then tapers back and the rest of the hood follow along with the tops of the fenders. The tolerances were much greater then than they are today.

I would say adjustment, mine had 80,159 so after I took the hood off and painted everything, I had no reference marks. Just tweek it little by little you will get it.
