So heres the run down. Truck ran great shifted fine, but leaked fuel out of the side of my edelbrock 650. So i had a buddy of mine rebuild it. He put it back on and i drove it to my new house about 18 miles down the highway. The whole time i was driving it sounded and felt like i was staying in second gear. When i would give it gas i could only give it about 1/4 throttle if that because it would almost try and shift and the second i would let off the throttle you could feel it down shift/up shift not actually quite sure. I know that sounds odd. So i had a buddy take a picture of his kick down on his 351M with the same carb as I, and his kick down rod is extended almost to the end of his carb. How the end of mine is maybe 1/4 of the length of my carb now and the linkage isnt resting against the adjustment screw. So now that i have said all that here is my question. Is it possible that josh got the bracket for the kick down in the wrong position when putting it back together, could that cause the weird shifting issues and if so how do i fix it. We tried to pull the kick down forward but the bracket or kick down dont seem to want to come forward anymore. I will post a couple photos of what im talking about later today when *crosses fingers* the sun comes out.
Didn't you bring up this issue a couple weeks ago? If I remember correcly, I asked if the hose to the vacuum modulator on the transmission was re-installed correctly. What was the outcome of that? You can try driving it without the kickdown rod connected to eliminate your idea, but you absolutely need to check the modulator hose.
I had the same problem when I first bought my truck. No power and always shifted to much. Turned out that the kickdown rod was only allowing about 3/4 throttle travel. It's either the wrong rod or got bent. Like Mark said, it is now disconnected. The truck now accelerates and shifts 100% better.

I didnt know what i was looking for but my buddy came over and replaced it and its still doing it, he said that the old one looked fine but might as well replace it so that there was no worrys about it.
Ill try disconnecting it. i know it worked fine until the carb rebuild so i dont think its the wrong one. Im going to go take some photos of the linkage now and ill post them up
