hahaha that is funny that us auto guys are rated to tow more. WOO go E4OD lol
The problem there is you can cheat with a manual and can't with an auto. And I don't buy into the way ford rated them they were just not wanting to have to be wuarrantying a bunch of driveline components. lol It is rare you see an auto in a semi.
You would be suprised how well they handle the weight if there is not a lot of wind drag.
My old warwagon crossed the scales with a big vermeer rock saw at 29,900 took it 160 miles to lubbock. I pulled a 32 foot 5th wheel to orlando and back at 70 it's flat ground but handled the interstate good with my 85. oh yea and it's 4spd that has already outlasted one motor.
I have not pulled anything with mine yet but I am worried about it not being able to keep up with traffic towing that kind of weight.
You know, honestly it did really well. No hot rod by any means, just use your head and good common sense. Don't forget to have one helluva good trailer brake and adjust it accordingly. It sure does help if your trailer is in tip top shape too. I am very **** about all of my trailers. Everything has to work or I don't tow until it is fixed. They pull straight and true. There are ways to, "overload" a trailer with common sense. Even still at that I hate doing it. Make sure your tires are maxed out on tire pressure, look at the side of the tire for this. Both truck and trailer. Make sure the tires are good tires too, not some discount used tire. Never run car tires on a trailer. They can't hold the load and will blow off. I have seen this before. I called my buddy and told him where he could pick up his trailer too. LOL
I am very very pleased with the towing capabilities of my IDI's. My 2wd dually has hauled everything as well. I use my trucks for work. They have to pay for themselves or I don't need them.

I have over 40,000 miles of towing under my belt, About 500 with a 460, and few hundred with a 5.4 and a few hundred with a 7.3 PSD. All the rest are with my V10.
I have been scaled at 22,600 before with the V10 and it was a little sluggish, but it never lost speed on a hill.
I got the 7.3 IDI hoping for better fuel mileage, but I am not sure about the loss of power over the v10.
This will be the least powerful thing I have towed with by far.
Just have to wait and see once it is on the road
