He has 3.55s, and being a 4x4 he might have bigger tires.

You put those to together and it makes since.

I assume you are talking about cedar park, if so I don't remember posting about it.
It seems like I may have mentioned lookout mountain in a post, if so it is not a BIG hill if you are on the highway it is however a long ways to the bottom by the lake if you miss the curve on the top. If that is what you are talking about it is between granite shoals and kingsland on I belive the number is 1431. I may have mentioned cedar park at some time as I had a major bad did I say major wreck between cedar park and marble falls closer to jonestown I belive.

I hoe you open your exhaust on the idi before you pill a major load, if not and you are used to the V10 you might be dissapointed, you may be anyway but I think if you ditch the exhaust and go with an oversize and smooth exhaust you will change your mind about how it runs and pulls. Do not go with straights though pulling loads it is untolerable.

I have 2 with 3.55's but both have 235's and the taking off is different than with 4.10s but once it is moving it is not that much difference. I can't see 1st gear but big tires does make a huge difference.

Yes, that what I meant. I have been reading too many of Joe's posts. LOL
Ok, I misunderstood and thought you were talking about a steep pull, that makes since now.

I will do the exhaust, soup bowl and turn it up a flat before I drive it much.

I do not think I will be disappointed because I knew what I was getting when I bought it.

I am hoping that as low as I am setting my expectations I will be pleasantly surprised by it.

Bill,my expectations were set low as well reading how most people here call the IDI slow.
my engine seems to be night and day from many here.
i would describe it as fast and powerful.im very used to the new 6.4 as well,as my dad let me borrow his 08 while i was between trucks.
its nothing like that engine.that engine would haul my IDI around like a rag doll without even trying.(i assure you guys.that thing is a complete beast! you can't use that much power doing what i do.can't even tap into it.)
but she ain't no "slow to get there" "doggy" "sluggish" "might not be fast, but will get there" kinda truck either.
however,i don't haul the big loads.all i haul is what i can carry and a 2k pd chipper.
i get up to 70 mph VERY VERY fast if i want.if i plant it while empty,it will press me into the seat and before you know,im well, well over any speed limit.
with a couple tons on the back,i can still get up to 70 faster than i ever normally accelerate.
this is all stock.just a shift kit in the trans.the stock intake up by the hood, and the stock exhaust with no turbo to boot.
i think most people are running with ip's and injectors with over 100k miles.just because these parts "still work" doesn't mean they're still in factory specs.i think this may be the biggest fault leading people to believe the IDI is just a slow/doggy engine.with low miles their not dogs by any means.maintenance is key.
i haven't touched the fuel setting on the ip.i never see a spec of black smoke out the rear under any conditions yet,nor do i have plans to touch it.

(i normally only average 45-50 MPH as that's where i work most.in built up places.so the IDI is above my needs as its sits.but im still doing exhaust and intake for fun/mpg anyway in the future.anything faster, was just to "see" it had plenty of pedal left going a speed of which i don't care to mention so when i read "the truck was built for 55 MPH speed limits",i get a lil chuckle too. )

You have to figgure probably 90 percent of these trucks have had the Ip changed , and has been timed by ear. I am included in this percentage a timing meter is on my list for when I get rich. I can get it close but it sometimes takes some time playing with it, and close is not perfect. lol

As of right now my dodge would wax the IDI. But then I am at 6-8k feet above sea level and pulling 10+% grades with a 28foot enclosed car trailer that is a giant wind block.

Me thinks the old IDI is going to need boost to get er done with the big trailer. I imagine that the little 16 foot open traier and the 2300lb GTI will be just fine with the N/A idi.

Any Ideas on were I should get one?

Is there any brand I should go for or should I just get a cheap one?

Isspro is the industry standard and used in all big trucks. The last one I bought was a new in box KW one for 50 bucks without the lead and probe I think I paid 58 for the probe at kw.

FORDF250HDXLT, I think you are right about the old IPs and injectors.

Mine has both brand new.

If you have no smoke at all you might want to bump the IP up a tiny bit when you open up the exhaust and intake so you do not lean it out to much.

Star, Mine is timed by ear too.

I would really like to do it right after the motor is back in, what do the tools cost?

Shame you don't still live in ceder park, we could go 50/50 on one.
