Must thank everyone on the forum who posted some very helpful information informing me on how to install an on/off switch for the interior/running board lights. My family found a drive in theater 45 minutes south of us and the first time we went, we were the only ones in the parking lot lit up like a Christmas tree. Since, I found the black wire with the blue stripe by removing the kick panel by the fuel shut off switch, cut it and ran wires along the top of the carpet under the dash to just under the dimmer switch and installed my switch there. Now we've been to the drive in three more times this summer and the switch works like a charm!
It is nearly impossible to tell you what you might of done wring.
But, if the running boards (you have them? With lights?)
Are on before you blow the fuse again, the wire FROM the switch is connected to ground somewhere.
It could be the switch terminal itself touching something metal, the wire insulation got stripped via rubbing when pulling it across a sharp edge, poor connection in the kick panel, etc.
A simple volt meter with continuity buzz will help you without needing a box of spare fusses.

I've looked all through Ford's manual and I couldn't find a fuse listed dome lights, interior lights or anything close. My neighbor suggested the fuse for cigar lighter but I haven't tried it yet.
Thanks for the replies.

I recently had problems with my truck and the windows stopped working. I went to find the fuse for the windows and conveniently found that it was fuse number 14. Which also controls the dome lights as well as running board lights. There's a 15 amp fuse. I've been blowing it intermittently and not sure what the cause is yet but just keeping some 15 amp fuse around and every now and again changing it as needed. Hope this helps.
